The extra C is for Champions

Everything to play for, nothing to lose.

The lads will be fired up after last week and have a full week to prep, for a change.

Go get 'em boys!

If you asked me 6 months ago would I be happy to have a secured semi final spot before our last game, plus a clear lead in our ACL group with 2 games to play (1 at home) I would have answered : I would be ecstatic considering the changes to our personel.
Fast forward to today.
Here we sit somewhat dissapointed that our lads failed to secure out 2nd spot last weekend when on offer, even before a ball was kicked in the last round.
So I temper my thoughts with the knowlege that weve had a pretty good season so far all thing considered.
But this is not an average football club, never has been.
I know what an effort it's going to take to bring down Brisbane this weekend.
But I also know this team thrives on situations like this.
Last week everything that could go wrong - went wrong.
With a little bit of average luck combined with the fortitude these guys have shown that they've got in spades I think we can win this game.
Whether that will be good enough to secure a home semi only time will tell.
But geez it's been a good ride so far.

Better get 2nd because the NRL & Easter are going to give it to us up the backside.
If we come 3rd or 4th.
The friday night (our preferred time due to ACL commitments) has an NRL game at CCS.
TV then wants the 2nd game on Sunday Arvo @ 5pm - We hate sunday arvo's as a crowd & it's easter sunday so plenty be doing the family thing. Also then have to back up for the ACL on Tuesday or wednessday not sure which.

A move to Sat night would be good especially if playing SFC but not sure Foxtel would be up for that.
or worse we drop to 5th or 6th & have to travel some where

If we lose and both Melb and Wandies win, then we'll finish fourth and no champions league football next year :(

Everyone fell over last week & we blew it - Can it happen again?

Come on newcastle (ouch that hurts) -
Come on Wellington
Come on Heart
Come on Perth

Replying on all teams outside the 6 to do us a favour - Not good odds

And if Adelaide and Sydney FC win too we could end up sixth, the last finals spot. Considering the blows we've suffered this season I think that is still respectable.
The teams below us have no excuses.

Considering how shite Victory were doing at one point, I think they've done well to be so high up. But at the same time, shit on them for not being as dominant as their players should be allowing them to be. But with a man like Muscat at the helm wasting some of our best talent, it isn't too surprising.

It just stinks that the one game that should've been an easy win, Perth, ended up being a horrendous game, and now we have the toughest team in the league to beat if we want to finish 2nd. But WSW and MV want that one less game as much as us...

Agree, and as Big Al said just above your post: "Everyone fell over last week & we blew it".
Over the weekend I thought everything was falling into place nicely for us to cement second.

My guess is that the final round will see us higher than sixth though.

To get a home final:

If we loose to Brisvegas - 3rd or 4th - Finish on 39 points with minimum of -6GD
Need - two of AU, MV & SFC to loose,
draws will see AU & MV jump us on goal difference as well as will a SFC win

If we draw in Brisvegas - 3rd or 4th - Finish on 40 points with -5GD
Need one of AU & MV to loose - SFC can't catch us even with a win - WSW would have to lose by 10 goals for us to jump them into 2nd

If we win in Brisvegas - 2nd or 3rd - Finish on 42 points with minimum of -4GD
Need WSW to draw or loose to jump them into 2nd.
Otherwise guaranteed 3rd.

Has to be said if we can't beat Brisbane now with a clear week's prep and the motivation of hurting pride, we'd be very long odds to defend the seat this year anyway.
Relying on all teams outside the 6 to do us a favour - Not good odds
Yep, 2nd seems a tall ask.
But, remember 2007/8, when the top 4 was all on 31 points with one round to go, each against a team outside the 4 and they did it then (including Perth limiting the size of Jets win to curb their GD).
GTs :overheadl:
My guess is that the final round will see us higher than sixth though.
I agree. Even though a "safe" tipster might tip all to go against us (= 6th), you'd think just one of Welly, Jets (mathematical chance still intact) and Heart (Kewell farewell) all in their season's last appearance before a home crowd could pull out a win. Or in-form Perth get some result.

My gut feeling is 5th (... then 3 wins :pirashoot::pirashoot::pirashoot:)

And what a result for the salary cap if 2nd to 6th - or half the teams in the league - finish on 39 points.

Interesting top 6 as well

Roar - No dramas except for the odd red card - coasted home & played attractive football or did they (was everyone else just shit)
WSW - Probably the most consist of the rest but none of the big overseas players are playing as well as last year & have the most draws out of the whole league
CCM - You know our story
AU - Horrible start - played good football but would conceed easy goals at the end - fixed the leaky defence & charged up the table - Scored the most goals of the whole league
MV - Very similar to CCM without the player turnover - Hot & cold
SFC - Stone cold shit for a couple of weeks - Then on a winning run - About as consistant as ADP's hammy

WSW got off to a flyer - 22 points from the first 11 games. Since then 17 points from the next 15 rounds

it's all my fault . when I wore last years soccer5 shirt we lost.
I went to bed last week before the perth game . I should have worn the Westinghouse shirt to bed.
I will not fail the side this week.
It's my fault. Every time I've watched a game we've won. Every time I am called away due to social commitments, we lose. Sorry friends, finals football is calling.

I might have contributed. I let my girlfriend watch this game with me on the telly. It never works out well when she does :(
