ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Out of left field ... The year we made a profit and had our best average crowd was when we had a marquee ... Aloisi put bums on seats... Tis it time to sign Bresh or Goldman... Just thinking..

I honestly think it would help

but the cost of the player might very well be more than the coin made by those extra bums on seats, my guess at why we haven't gone down that path. that and the team unity thing

I believe Aloisi was signed as an injury replacement, not a marquee. I don't know if that makes any difference as far as coin goes, but it didn't seem to damage team unity, we made the GF that year. It made the FFA change the rules too, now your replacements have to be like-for-like. I don't know (or can't remember) who Aloisi replaced, but it sure wasn't a striker. :)

Yep, he was an "injury replacement" from Round 10 for Matthew Osman; likewise Damien Mori allegedly replaced Paul O'Grady.

. how are we meant to improve our crowds or viewing audiences if our games are always scheduled at times that will help neither. the figures are then used to justify those decisions and it becomes self fulfilling

The thing that I don't get about this us that the club would have signed off on the draw. How can they agree to the draw this year when they want increased crowds, or are they deliberately trying to reduce crowds to justify moving future games away.

It's not like the clubs get a great deal of latitude with the schedule - so long as Fox Sports are paying the bills they'll push for games that they know are going to be high raters in the Sat night slots.

Venue availability played a huge role this year with Asian Cup

. it certainly adds to the theory doesn't it

. yet they have made a point in previous years of fighting for (and getting some) changes ... and this year not even an argument for keeping the new years eve game (which rarely takes a prime saturday night slot - like this year)

. and i still don't understand how this effects the NYE game as was reported

The suggestion was made by Bruce in the podcast a while back that we were given the 27th in return for giving up the NYE game this year.

Agreed, but they do get some input into the scheduling given comments from the club in the past.

This year's draw isn't going to help averages with 5 Sunday games (2 at 3pm...), no home games for nearly a month, no NYE game and two games in Sydney. Add to this that we only have one home game against our three nearest neighbours and it will surely drop.

Having said that I actually think the crowds we've had for our Sunday matches so far have been good compared to previous years.

This has had me baffled also. Terrible draw. No NYE. Games to NSO. Reduced engagement. yet all I hear is that the "Coast need to show their support if they want this club" The Coast has shown it's support potential many times. And if they want to increase the numbers - they need to keep working.

When I see Mariners upcoming games and branding all over Erina Fair, Westfield Tuggerah and maybe Terrigal aswell, I'll consider they might be doing all they can. Until then, the reality is a high proportion of Coasties have no idea when we are even playing - and yet there is constant complaints about crowd numbers. This is a huge disconnect imo.

CCM to FFA we want to play 2 games at NSO and 1 a Brookie.
FFA sure but we will screw you for the rest of the draw to suit fox and screw means we will have your NYE game as well
