ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

religious talk shouldn't be banned, and it isn't. *stirring* is not on.

Says you?
Am pretty sure the majority of your posts on this thread are stirring.

was certainly taking the piss before the thread actually developed into a discussion. apologies for the 'shoot first' approach, but it's not like the threadstarter does much other than take the piss and hijack things around here, so receiving a bit of his own shouldn't faze him too much.

on topic, i'd be very wary of making claims about what *most* or *a lot* of followers of any religion may do/believe. claims about what *some* adherents do or believe are much easier to back up, and prevent us getting into arguments about how many people believe what.

that said, what counts as 'the whole story that goes along with it'? does that include taking the bible as literally true? following papal encyclicals literally? how does a christian get around the disconnect between the messages of the old and new testament? does the old simply become the ten commandments and then a few stories that lay the ground for christ's gospel? etc...

Just to clarify these are people who call themselves christians, just like you do, but for all intents and purposes are not really following christ.

And besides, following christ and not going to church every sunday or reading the bible? Sounds like a contradiction to me. In your opinion, and i ask this quite sincerly, what do you call a true christian?

Linky thing

Apparently, I'm a Unitarian Universalist. I started surfing forums for that religion and quickly found that the majority of them are absolute lunatics.  :ashamed:

Got to love the idea that someone has automated spirituality selection though  :D

To see someone who has such faith and passion for something is amazing...when they keep it at a sane level. Its the same with having a passion for a sport or something. You should not critisize someone for having a passion for something.
:postcount:
My mate i used to play soccer with is a devout christian- and he is quite posibly one of the best guys i know. His method of conduct in everyday life is remarkable!
Not to mention talking to soe guy the other day who was engaged and waiting til he married (because religious)- its nice to see that such faith and passion goes beyond the football pitch!

Of course everyone's deifnation of a true christian is going to be differant. God does not care if you don't go to a building for 2 hours every week and sing some songs. If you do your best to live a life of charity, love and have faith in your God, it's all you need.

Itrs not everyones definition i am interested in, it is yours.

God does care if you are an active member of his body, the church.

If you read the bible you will find that God desires much more of you than trying your best at charity love and faith.

I am not criticising anyone for having passion, i am just suggesting that maybe the life christians lead these days, is not what Jesus would call holy.

TBF, I don't care what fazes the threadstarter or not. But if your so agaisnt him doing it, why follow his example and do the same?

Ok, I'll quit with the "Most" thing, is everyone else does.

*sigh*

That is my definition.
And I was always taught that Jesus loves you no matter what. So is people are not acting as holy as Jesus would like, does it matter?

He does, but him loving you and actually getting to heaven are completly different things as far as christianity is concerned.

Then again i could be totaly wrong.
