ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I hope not....it would be terrible to see the club move away from the community.

If it's a matter of the players being too tired after a match to attend post match functions why not have a pre-match function the morning/afternoon of the game? It would get more of the younger fans in since most post matches are past their bedtime and it would also help get people in the area earlier and watching youth matches.

prematch would be a no go

the players have a job to do in the game and need to be able to prepare in the way that most suits them and gets them ready for the game

having them attend a compulsory prematch function may be counterproductive

post-match is different - the pressure is off and any community work would not impede on their performance (aside from the need to attent to injuries)

Even a handful of players at the post match would be appreciated. Iv been to so many games, spent so much money on tickets and travel, but iv hardly had the chance to have a chat to any of the players in my team. What I would give for a few beers and a chat with some of those guys.

Not to have them shriek and run away as I have seen some of them do when approached by some Mariners fans....

The Mariners have still organised a post match in the bowling club, but without the gaurantee of players turning up.
The Mariners have said unfortunately there was never an absolute that the players would be at any post match.
We will run the post match untill such a time as we are told not to. You might be lucky if some of the players want to meet their familly after the match.
Still, we've had a good run, and we have still to see what will be decided the next home game. I am taking it game by game.

The post match functions in V1 were tops, with Lawrie talking about the game and all the hype. Players seemed happy to mingle with fans back then. Shame things have changed so much in such a short time.

Judging from the photos you posted with Bozza, there may be a  feeling that there is a fine line between fan and stalker...

Robert De Niro in "The Fan" comes to mind... But Fatter

After 90 minutes playing as hard as you can I'd hate to have to mingle with drunk bogans when you just want to recover. Its like working all day then going out to hang out with your customers, PFT f**k that.

They have Fan days for meeting the players

The players get paid for a reason you know, this isnt the Ourimbah Razorbacks where the men just play 80 minutes, have a can of Jim Beam and go to the Tall Timbers where they kick on until the AM or theyre booted out for sexually harrassing the pig mascot.
Theyre ambassadors and they do represent a club which has fans and sponsors and members who have paid for memberships with the incentive of postmatch functions which are a seen as an event for players to meet and greet their most loyal and paying fans. They need us more than we need them you know and if any turn away from the fans at any club is a bad move.

I doubt the blokes who sign the pay slips could give two shits if the goals are going in and points are on the board, if any players were there or not to have their asses kissed by sicophantic desperados. The main demographic of the mariners fans are families so the kids can't even get in to the leagues club after the game. Hence the fan days

Head to the terrigal pub on some random night. They always seem to be there and are always up for a chat.

Have never had any problem when started chatting to a mariner at erina fair or anything in their time, they always seem happy with it.

Actually the other day gumps saw me and came up to me to chat about things before i even saw him. Good bloke.

My point is im sure there is pleanty of other people like myself, who should not have to go out of their way to Terrigal pub to have a chat. Post match has been a success in the past, why change whats not broken?

Yes, players after they have just played arent always keen to go and have a chat with fans especially if they lost, but thats just because there tired and they probaly want to go and have a rest for a few hours.

On that why doesnt the club send over some of the injured players or team coaches, they are always at the game, atleast then the members who at the post match can get some recognition from the club.

Don't get too wound up by "My little friend". As you all know we do not allow the 'intoxicated' into the post match. It is also the venue where underage are allowed, I don't think you can at Terrigal??
And of course the players are always under the caring eye of the  :naughty:'Batman' :naughty: so they have allways felt comfortable at post match.
