ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Not enough attacking intent. Too many passes going back because we are too timid to have a go. Getting Okon PTSD. The only difference from the Okon era is that we are passing out from the back and Taylor Ray quite reasonably. From there we stalling.

Really lacklustre to be honest, compared to our first few games. Definitely lucky with that goal and not to have conceded a penalty.

Hoping this kicks us back into gear at least.
we had two shouts for penalties .the one on trimmis is a "please explain" in the match report.
they had an extraordinary amount of largest from the ref .
the commentator was complete dog shit .
we weren't great but deserved the 3 points

3 taylor
2 langman
1 the very very good puxity

... and who said the Mariners didn't have an identifiable playing style ???
... lack of attacking intent seems to be a common trait between the men and women at the moment (Trimis is probably the exception)

. how much of the problem is down to the midfield i'll leave to the more knowledgeable to discuss ... it seems that the girls are about 6 months or so behind the boys:
  • take Iz (Niz) out of the midfield and it weakens B (Max)
  • reinforce with T-Ray (Tappy) and we aren't looking too bad
  • move T-Ray (Tappy) to CB and we are considerably weakened
. I thought Taylor was good at fill-in-CB (with the exception of the push ... lucky, lucky) and Puxty seemed better defensively than last week

. the pommie girls still aren't doing enough for me (kinda like the imports in the blokes team)

. Trimis is far less timid than last year (expected with age and experience) ... and Quilligan needs to follow the same path, particularly in her position

I was somewhat surprised that Ray was deployed at CB after Irwin was forced off, as I thought Gallic would have been the more obvious choice but she did really well there. I was a bit concerned that dropping her back might cost us some control of the midfield but Quilligan did really well there for mine, much as she did when she came on against WU last time out.

Pennock and Nunn really need to be delivering more as import players imho and whilst Pennock did score the winner, she was very lucky it was served up for her on a plate.

Puxty impressed me again this week, after her solid display last game and should hold that LB spot going forward if she maintains some consistency.

Our play going forward is often clunky, although when the girls do work their combinations properly, we are capable of taking it to our opponents but the default seems to be to recycle the ball to death more often than not.

We are really missing Izzy’s determination and drive in the middle but we looked better with Trimmis central than when she was playing wider. The subs did make a positive impact and the squad is definitely deeper and more balanced than it was last season.

Also, how good is it to see the Smurfettes having a shit season btw? :headbounce:
