R6: Melbourne City vs Central Coast Mariners

I think we played better last week and lost, but surely the fact that we were *pounding* away until the death shows there's some spirit left in this lot. They are not going to go quietly into the night.

And Hutcho at the death, be still my beating heart. I had tears in my eyes and the neighbours definitely heard me...
And my better half was telling me to shaddup, not so loud, what will the neighbours think? But, you know what, I don't give a rats. I really enjoyed that game. It will be interesting to see the post match interviews and the press.

Just looking at the match stats, possession, passing, all not bad, imho definitely not the picture of a team in crisis.

Foxsports give a point to Fitzgerald!! You are kidding. I thought he was very poor today. Reddy definitely MOM for us. Thought Poscoliero was OK but Ando poor, caught out of position to many times. Trifiro definitely had an impact. Not sure what everyone sees in Duke. Simon's 10 minute cameo the other night shows what we are missing up front. Gett better quickly Matty we need you.

I liked Hutcho's comment afterwards that there's no disharmony "now".
I know many on here are spruiking Caceres as our #10. Not for mine. We looked much better when Tricky came on and Caceres went back to DM.
I thought Hutch was great today, just behind Rocket. Nearly cried when he got the goal. Good on you Hutch.
City paid the price for trying to park the bus. I reckon the 15 seconds Redders took to amble over from his goal to take the offside free kick was added on, just enough for Hutch to score.

Why did we ever have a thread thread saying Hutch should go? Amazing.

Moss was so emotional after the Hutch goal. Could sense that Hutch just saved his job.

I thought he was definately worth a point today. He had a terrific game and should be in the stating eleven always if fit. Reddy was also very solid as per usual. Unlike when we were 2-0 down v Sydney today the boys looked like they had a belief that they could get something out of the game. Promising signs.

I was at the game today. What an awesome football stadium! A Melbourne derby would be something special.

Ok, thoughts on the game... Impotent up front, a cluster f**k at the back. City had some real bite down the wings and looked very slick, thanks in no small part to us I suppose.

It was a pretty morbid atmosphere in the away bay until Tricky's goal. Even then we were under the pump and Reddy had to save our ass a couple of times. The last 10 minutes were full of Mariners spirit. Cernak was very aggressive in the air... Epitomised what was going on with the rest of the team. When Hutch scored at the end... Well... Hole f**king moley!!! WE WENT OFF!!!!!

It's karma. At 2-0 down, the City supporters were giving it to us. The hide of them!!! They don't have any silverware in their trophy cabinet and they don't have any history. How dare they taunt us :)

Anyway... "2-0 and you f**ked it up" rang out in the stadium and on the walk back to Federation Square.

I love this f**king club!

Looking forward to the match write ups... was at a family thing today and keep going in to look at the score ... stopped just before we scored the first goal and heard the news when wow what happened... sounds like Reddy saved us again and Hutch pulled one of those once a year goals at the perfect time...

COYY ...

I listened to the call on Coast Fm & is was basically dire for us.
There was nothing positive about the game but I did pick up on a
comment when one of the commentators said that there was going to be some big changes in personnel
at the Mariners in the transfer window.
Anyone have any info?

That game is what being a supporter is all about. Absolute emotional roller coaster.

Thanks to everybody who made the trip - was a lot of fun having such a decent turnout for this game.

Thought we made some good noise in the stadium.

Feelings were dire through pretty much the entire second half. A lot of discontent. I don't feel good about the team at the moment, and I don't think we deserved that point.

We don't shoot enough, and we don't build up consistently in attack. There was a lot of just sending it to Sim or Fitzy so they could cross it in from the corner, but not enough support, not enough movement off the ball. We don't have any player who can/want to take defenders on and run the ball into the box. So if you can't run it, you NEED good structure, and we don't have that.

Defence suffered poorly from lazy, lazy marking. MC had opportunities they didn't convert. Partially that's credit to Reddy (MoM for me).

Man, when that equaliser went in...we celebrated like we won the grand final. The only draw I can remember that felt that good was an injury time equaliser against NZ Knights at home in season 1, 2-2. It's tough being a supporter, but we do what we do, through thick and thin.

This season isn't looking good, but damn I'm proud of our history.

YELLOW TILL I DIE!!!!!

I do:
" "Transfer window" is the
unofficial term commonly used by the media
for the concept of "registration period" as
described in the FIFA Regulations on the
Status and Transfer of Player."
if that helps.

I was in the car, on the way home from yet another wasted day at work, being depressed by the game... Sounded to me like he was dreaming though, talking about maybe getting Macca back etc. etc... I took it to be more along the lines of the dreams of a disappointed fan, than actual rumour... But what do I know? I don't have an aunt who once caught her husband calling one of Charlesworth's phone lines... Not to my knowledge anyway ;)

Not great at all but a baby step in the right direction. Two quality strikes saved our arse and Melbourne will be annoyed they didn't close that game out.

The defence is shambolic. The midfield is toothless and we are poor in front of goal. Movement is still poor.....but that point may give us some belief and confidence

Reddy 8.5. Only reason we got a point. MOM.
Neill 6.5. Lively. Quite good going forward but not great defensively.
Postco 6.5. I saw some good signs but still too loose.
Ando 5.5. Better than Bosnars last game but not by much. Sloppy.
Rose 6. Mixed bag. Sometimes looked out best defender but sometimes caught out.
Monty 5.5. Not his best game.
Hutcho 6.5. Good finish. Did a reasonable job for most of the game. Still too slow in movement and thought but showed some guts.
Fitz 6. Did very well in the first half and unsettled Heart/City with his direct running.
Caceras 6. Not really dominating any games so far this year.
Sim 5.5. The millstone around Mossy's neck. Some good deadball delivery but basically very average.
Duke 6. A couple of good layoffs.

Vernes and Trif made a difference and Trifs goal was classy.
