ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

R5: Perth V Mariners

Word on the street is he's asked for a release. Dressing room's gone.
If true, hardly a loss, we aren't talking about a Sainsbury, Wilko or Patrick here. And anyway, Poscoliero is much better on the ball; moves it quickly instead of posing for Cleo

Hmmm.. I think he does fairly well mostly, much more worried about the implications of players asking for a release etc. etc...
Once that's said, there were the same rumours about Dukey this time last year, he not only stayed but actually signed an extension, so let's hope that it's just rumours off the back of him not playing.

We seem to be having our traditional slow start to the season but there are some positives:
We should be more stable this year unlike the mess last season.
We are currently in the top six with a game in hand.
We have played some very good football in patches, if the team can do that for whole games we will start getting wins.

I still think we need a top striker. If a under performing team in the middle of nowhere like Perth can get a player like Keogh why can't a successful team a stones throw from Sydney get one. Come on MC, open your cheque book!

Totally in agreement. Ando does have the size but i've always felt he lacks the presence his size should give him.

Posco for me yeah sure he is rather small for the position, but he seems to be very handy on the ball and has decent speed.
Might cause a stir but i could see him playing well in DM with Monty, Hutch on the bench and play Ando when his size is crucial at the back i.e marking Janko last week.

Probably already discussed with some of the armchair coaches out there but i think this weeks game will throw up more surprise selections with the FFA game coming up. I doubt more than half the squad will back up so does Mossy pick his best on Sunday or mix sides to be competitive for both games? I think he will mix the sides up a bit for both games and won't be surprised to see the likes of Cernak, Matty Simon, Neill, Vernes, Ando etc starting in one of these 2.

We're not going to win the league this year, so let's try to be the first winners of the cup. In fact, I think even if we were in the running for the league, I'd still like to see us prioritise the cup! Only one team will ever be the first to win it!

I'm sure everyone has read
the article on the Mariners site
but just in case-

"I’ve got a strong vision of
where I want this
football team and how I want us
playing football
and we’re slowly but surely
getting there. It just
needs a little bit of confidence,
a result to go our
way, a ball to hit the back of the
net at the right
time of the game and I’m sure
that will give us
lift off,” Moss said.
In a boost for the Mariners, all-
time leading
marksman Matt Simon will turn
out for the Club
in its Foxtel National Youth
League fixture
against Glory Youth in Tuggerah
on Saturday.
Simon’s participation in the
match will mark his
first competitive minutes in
some time, and
should he perform it will give
Moss more
welcome headaches in regards
to his team and
squad selection for future
games.
Indeed from Sunday the
Mariners will play five
games in 14 days across the
Hyundai A-League
and Westfield FFA Cup, with
fixtures taking place
in three states.
“‘Simmo’ (Simon) is back to full
fitness and
training now,” Moss said. “He
had a disrupted
pre-season for personal reasons
and obviously
this is a family Club so we gave
him as much
time as he needed.”
“He is training the house down
now and I have
to say he has looked very good
in training.”
“We don’t want to play him to
fatigue but
certainly depending on how he
goes he may be
involved in the (Westfield FFA)
Cup game
midweek against Adelaide,”
Moss concluded.

Could Matt Simon be converted to a 10?
He`s strong, ferocous, never gives in & has played in the midfield before.
Given the long period he has had away from the game & his age , a change to 10 (like McBreen) may work.

Give me 5 mins to put on the hard hat & some padding before you start throwing brick bats.:vhappy:

we had Clive Palmer who f*cked Gold Coast & Nathan Tinkler who f*cked Newcastle
Why would we need more mining money?
Not us need mining money, Perth have mining money. This is in response to vic's question as to why perth can have a player like keogh

Given some of the team selections this year it wouldn't surprise! He looked good today in the NYL by the way.

No brickbat, I have thought this before as in a McBreen no.10 not a genuine no.10. He is really good at dropping deep and spreading the play wide. however I would like to see a Mat Simon returned to full fitness and ability - which we rarely saw last year - leading from the front and creating room for Duke and Mane to play off. Watching Mane struggling to control long balls against Sydney it would be good to have the big guy creating fear and mayhem. Time will tell.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Give me a win or even some decent Football and I'll start to relax.

I'm with Wombat....But I fear that something untoward is afoot in the locker room at Tuggerah ....the transfer window is gonna be painful this year
