When Garcia came we really needed a spark so totally different situation to now. This team doesn’t need Timmy or Garcia.garcia did allright imo
For the life of me I can not see why so many people say this. Disruptive. Only in it for himself.Much too potentially disruptive for us. Not to mention $$$. Can not see Okon going for it.
FFA have also named a Star Wars character as unavailable for each team. Ours is Yoda (back, indefinite).

Where's the proof of that? From what I've heard he's the consummate professional aways putting in 110% at training and a great club man.
He's not been disruptive at city and his priority has been the national squad and he's made that abundantly clear.
All these people saying it's just money that he's in it for have no proof other than who he has signed for which is a weak argument. He's always been national team 1st.
We need a proven goal scorer. He is one. If the stars aligned I wouldn't think it would disrupt the squad. I dont think Cahill would be jeopardizing his last world cup for dollars either. He'll take whatever gets minutes into those legs.
I didn't attribute all of that to you FP. So sorry if you took it that way. I said I cant see why so many people say this. It's a common perception that Cahill is all about money or in it for himself or disruptive. It was more a comment on your line of thinking.Only in it for himself??
Not at all what I said. You're reading far too much into my post and then worse have made a giant sauce bottle sized straw man out of it. I actually agree with most of your points about Tim and don't share others low opinion of him at all.
But potentially disruptive to our precariously balanced side...? Of course he is. Doesn't mean it's his fault at all or that I think ill of him... but facts are facts...
For a team that's just found it's way and is finally starting to build its rhythm signing the biggest name in Australian football would equal significant change and so of course with that comes significant potential disruption. My statement was simply that I didn't think Okon right when things were going so well would be up for that risk.
- He's the highest profile player in the league. Media scrutiny and his dressing room personality alone will mean a major shift, which is clearly "Potentially disruptive".
- He would 100% expect to be starting and it's all but guaranteed that this will be the number one consideration in his signing conversations. Which is fine. But Tim coming in being guaranteed to start would of course effect other players like Adsrubal, Powell, Appiah... and is therefore again obviously "potentially disruptive".
- Okon does not have any major personalities that could really clash or challenge his authority at present... I'm not saying Cahill would... but what if Okon doesn't get along well with Australia's biggest name when all the countries eyes will be on him? Every new signing bares risk, but there's a risk here that the signing of any lesser profile striker would not bring...
And this doesn't discount that he could come here score 15 goals and be amazing for us. I'm actually not sure where I sit with it myself because personally I think he would bang in a decent share and that a proven quality striker is ideal for us, but what I worry about is his work rate when we currently are hyper mobile up front and also defend hard from the front. Tim would significantly impact the pace of our game, how we break and how we press. So I was undecided. And then I thought, ah, I really don't think Okon or the club would go for it anyway...
And my statement re dollars? WTF? All I said was "not to mention the $$" as in he is anything but cheap, and we are the cheapest club. Of course dollars would be an issue for the club.
Sorry if my post was too easy to misread. But not at all happy about being positioned as saying Tim's all about money – or "only in it for himself". Not my position at all. I love the guy.
Anyone know what’s wrong with Yoda’s back?Asdrubal & Josh Rose back in.

As for our side being precariously balanced, I dont see it and you do the side a disservice by saying that. Okon has built something with a vision of how he wants to play. I dont for one second believe it could topple over at any second which is implied in saying precariously balanced.
As for expecting to start I dont believe Cahill is that type of player to come in and just expect things to be given to him. If you've followed his career at all over the last decade you'll know that's not him. He gets what he deserves by hard work. Rather than disruptive it might show some of our other players what it takes to be truly world class.
As for signing a lesser profile striker to avoid personality clashes that's just absurd. A personality clash has nothing to do with the so called profile of the signing. You have taken the common line about Cahill as noted above and spun them into a fear that he would destroy what we have here. Like I said the fear is based on a public misconception and a joy at cutting down tall poppy's.
As for significant change to our side I believe it's the exact opposite. He'd fit perfectly into what we are doing. He defends from the front he holds the ball up and plays like a midfielder and he is Australia's best goal scorer with an ability to get on the end of chances other cant. It's exactly what Okon's play calls for.
Obviously it's not going to happen but there's a reason why at 38 hes still the go to guy for the national team and its not that he's disruptive to the team's he's playing for.
