ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Questions about your club

Exactly MattSimon....

I think they copied us (I will ask them)

@kevrenor : 5 clubs !! God. Don't you think that this could be a problem to make football more popular in Australia (it sounds like the problems in US where they spend their time creating teams that folded). I would say that franchise is even more unstable....isn't it a bit scaring ?

'enthusiasm and uncertainty' ... good choice of english
Did I made a mistake (this is likely as I studied english only 2 years at school).

I think you've picked exactly the right words - in the past, clubs were supported always with an awareness that the good times may run out any day - the owner might go bust, all of a sudden the players stop getting paid, training seems to be permanently cancelled... Even without going over the trials that the national team has put us through, Australian football fans over the years have learnt to be pretty hard, you simply have to have been with what the game has put us through.

Clubs now (even under a franchise based system) have invested significantly more money and have attracted more public and corporate support than they ever did under the old system. Even this year when crowds are down, the league's average attendance is over 11,000 - about double what the old NSL did at its peak.

Clubs have business plans, fully professional squads, youth teams, a women's league just started up, even things like professionally managed and marketed merchandise mean that there are more revenue streams coming in. It's better set up than hoping you can sell enough cevapcici and pumpkin seeds to fill the team buses' tanks next week.

For all that, we have had one club go bust already - the New Zealand Knights went under after winning maybe 4 games in 2 seasons, and having crowds that would have been embarassing even on the old national league.

Reading your posts, you are very good at English - better than some people on here :D. I learnt 4 years of French & can only remember a handful of phrases.

alright.

My web site is called Lucarne Oppose and has for priority to talk about teams, matches and leagues that are not under the spotlight in the French medias (of course, I sometimes give results of the main competitions). I started it one month ago and put energy these last weeks in making a new design. This being done, I'm now writing things again and I'll start with the A-league at the end of the week (I'm compiling all the answers of fans (I choosed to focus on 5 teams) and the data I needed for this report). If you want to add things, I can until Friday ;)

The site is here : http://parlonsfoot.e3b.org

Thank you for the answers and allowing me this advertising.

Lucarne.

Do not hesitate if you want informations about French league :p

Lucarne, do you know of any decent players in France who would be interesting in playing for a club like ours in the A-league?

woaw...what an interesting question.

Going away from Europe means no chances to be, stay or become international. This means that top french players (what I mean by top, is good players that are still playing in France) can't take this risk if they are young. This also means that you can have more chances to catch players from Ligue 2 (second division) who have no international plans.

So if by decent, you mean good player from first french league, I would say that none will be interested. They rather prefer a high contract with high salary (even in english second division). We've got players that travelled a lot but either they were not fantastic players, or they were almost retiring (but usually they prefer qatari petro-dollars).
