ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Probably too soon for Balotelli vs time wasting FC

At the end of the day... everybody carrying on about how poor we were, I’m not sure what you were expecting? There is no question at all that we are a squad not playing well. We obviously lack quality and we are ugly to watch. We are also clearly not gelling on field or off it. We got a draw by some miracle against an ordinary City side 3 days ago and got smashed by Aukland just before that. Nothing miraculousl has changed in that timeframe.

Tonight was a game of two very sub par sides and we are limping like a 3 legged wounded bull. The best we can hope for until something does change, is to scrape by with draws and the odd clutch win. We should be bloody grateful it was the latter tonight. A loss would have had us howling more than we are currently.

Happy for a few decent individual performances and really hope Steele gets some much needed confidence. Whatever good cordial he had before this game, keep it flowing.

Happy for the 3 points. Phew.

Can only agree - but as McBreen said on NYE we are not gelling and we are playing ugly but we are picking up points. I think we need 36 points to make the 6. At the moment we are on target for 33 or 34. So not really so bad for a stuttering start to the season.

Trent was looking less rusty today. MDP will come back in. A couple of youngsters to gain a bit more confidence and a positive January window and I still think top 6 is a realistic goal.

Given we have lost such influential players as Nisbet, McGarry, Balard, Silvera, Cummings, Moresche, Nkololo, Farrell, Vukovic, Hall, Triantis, Túlio, Torres & Barcellos (plus some promising youngsters) since the magic night at CommBank in June 2023, this year was always going to be a rebuilding year, and top 6 I think is probably where we should be aiming. Once you get there anything is possible.

Rules are rules but I am hating players deliberately pulling the attackers down on the break and just getting a yellow card. You want the game to flow attackers get frustrated like Eddo did. It’s a deliberate foul straight red for me and it will soon stop them doing it.

I wonder how long before deliberate shirt pulling to break up an attacking play becomes an instant red card?

All that happened between steely and eddy was, Eddy puts his arm over Steeleys shoulder once the group separates, steely looks like he’s trying to get his breath back, steely just lifts it off and says “get off me mate” and then smiles at him. They both walk back to half way.
Literally nothing.

1950's called. They want us all to be jolly good sports :)
If an opponent is through I demand our defence drags him down.
Thou shall not pass

Agree, it's a real problem this season.
The answer is stop letting the early ones slide. No rule changes needed just better use of the ones they have. Far too often players get away with them for the first 30+ mins and will tell the ref it’s my first one like they’re supposed to get a freebie. Last time I checked a goal is worth the same the whole game so why does the policing change?

Once it starts costing sides red cards more frequently they’ll save them for when they really need to foul.
