As much as i loved Matty, would he be an instant starter? McBreen leading the golden boot and Dukey has done amazingly well, to be honest i dont think Arnie would take him as much as it hurts to say.

. then the question would be ... is matty still 'wanting' to come back knowing he may not be starting 11?

. i can't see why arnie wouldn't want him: coastie, huge ticker, etc. then consider the future ... macca is getting on, sterj even more so, kwas has been out with injury, bernie looking to move on, etc, etc.

I would welcome Matty back with welcome arms, would be a good replacement for sterj, mcbreen and kwasnik as they are getting on, pellegrino if (more like when) he leaves, and a cover for dukey when we sell him in the middle of next season.

Could always ask the FFA and see what they come up with... they let Sydney/WSW have half a team of Marquee players so we should be able to sneak a couple more on the pitch

Bernie is likely to be gone at the end of the season. Sterj if re re-signs will be 34 at the start of the season and McBreen 36. Patrick. if he re-signs will turn 39 mid-season. While I would be particularly keen to re-sign Patrick and Danny, we can't realistically look at them as continuing to perform at the level Patrick has since he has been here and Danny has showed this year, especially as 90 minute players. We have the cover for Patrick already with Zac - and Duke has stepped up to be an obvious cover for Danny but Matty coming back would give us some more mongrel and plenty of energy.

A starting front 4 like below would be full of running and we would still have Danny and Fitzy to come on.
