Over/under: Matt Simon will score five goals this season?

Over under: Matt Simon will score five goals this season?

I am as big a Matt Simon fan as we have but he looks no closer to scoring a goal than I do scoring a date with Kim Kardashian. Simon resembles a new born giraffe chasing a football around the pitch. All heart, all effort but clumsy at the same time.

It's painful to watch at times.

For the record, I will go OVER. Perez and co. will create enough chances for the big fella to bag at least five this season but he might be pushing you know what up hill to get passed his seven from last season based on early season form.

Matty will easily get 5 goals this season unless injured. Even if dropped will get the goals coming off the bench.

He'll get about seven or eight I'd say.
But for the service he's gotten, he should already have that many.

We need a striker who can consistently finish and can take players on one on one.
And bustling pass them it not what I mean.

Matty needs to become more like Jamie Harnwell I believe.
Plays DM (instead of back) but sometimes is also put forward to do a job.

This is it. Simon should have at least five already so I am bemused when some say he will "easily" get five when truth remains that some of the chances presented have been messed up badly on his part. I think he looks the player from three seasons ago looking for his first A-League goal. Not good. Again, lots of effort and enthusiasm for little reward. Watching Arnie, you can see it's starting to wear thin.

Ummmmm....you do realise he scored last night don't you?

Yes I do, I was exaggerating to make a point mate. That aside,

Thanks for the concern.

I will rephrase for some,

"Simon looks no closer to scoring a goal than I do scoring a date with Kim Kardashian more often than not given the 100 chances he has had this season and blown"

I think he will score closer to 10+ this season. He has scored 2 goals so far this season and is in the terrible form. If we drop him to the youth or to the bench for a few weeks I think he will come back with a different mindset to stay up field (by not going back to help defend) and this will help him put more in the back on the net. When he then has confidence he can go back and defend if he choose.

Appears to be a little confused under Arnie's new style of play. He has also been asked to play a variety of roles which has probably added to the lack of settling and confusion.

Hopefully he can learn quickly and come good, otherwise may become a valuable addition off the bench fot the new striker.

By the way, congratulations to Matty on becoming the club's highest goal scorer.

I do agree with that point MarinerMick.

8 or 9 goals.

He is such a handful i love watching him play.

He is not playing as bad as some are saying but is definately down on confidence.

He'll come good.

Matty will score more than 5 goals. I suspect around the 10 mark. What a shocker on Saturday night when he was one on one with Pasfield. i suspect this is the cause of Arnie's frustration when Matt can't put away these sorts of opportunities.

Matty Simon is the local favourite, though I like him in the midfield better. Thought that performance in the first round where he shut out Skoko, suited him well, i would like to see him play similar roles on Culina, Carle etc any thoughts on that?

I was at the game in Melbourne where he shut out Skoko and thought he did a fantastic job. Having said that I don't think he has the creativity and vision required to be an effective midfielder.

. and therein lies the problem ... he was playing in weePat's position in that game. effective for what it was, but not viable long term
