ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Arnoldout would be a disaster for ANY club that gets him (why the FFA want shot of him I assume)

Scary insight into the football knowledge of our board TBH.

Would Lawrie hire Arnoldout? Hmmmmmmm, good way to get your job back! ;)

All 3 are from that generation of Australian footballers who believe the game revolves around them. I would also add Foster and Slater to that group.

They seem to believe that they alone are the elite of the game in this country, that they should be worshipped and given plum jobs simply because they played for the 'roos when the game was nothing in mainstream sport in this country and they could be a big fish in a tiny pond.

All of the first 3 have dismal coaching records (winning the NSL with Brisbane Strikers means jack shit Frankie), play dire, uninspring football and the other 2 think their opinion on the game (and sucking up to their mates) matters in any way shape or form.

Board should have some nuts and follow SFC's path and get in someone from O/S rather than rehash one of these failed clowns.

To imply that one of these guys will do a better job than Lawrie with the same resources is frankly an insult to the guy.

/end rant

I agree with the idea, but how to go about it? Do we go for a wikipedia special like DV used to hawk? And what do we pay them with?

I'd love to see us with a Lavicka or similar, but I just can't see it happening.

Would make an offer to Foster in a put up or shut up move. Slater doesn't rate us but is probably fairer to us when we do do well.

this is the only thread that seems to fit with what im about to translate.
but was talking with a man at the game yesterday who said he didnt like LG Or Turnbull (and mcabe) for one reason that the latter two are property developers only interested in making money, and that if that doesnt happen for them their gone (or were broke and out of the COE, which may then become a white elephant) anyone have inclinations on this stuff?

I'm not sure what his exact relationship at CCM is, but given the amount of money he poored in to SFC purely through goodwill (including things like being a very large personal contributor to Dwight's salary), and having spoken to him about the game, I think that's bollocks.

He's a good businessman and as such wouldn't want to see money wasted (millionaires often get called prudes, but they have a million dollars whilst the name-callers don't), but no one in the world gets in to football for profit. Find me one club (aside possibly from the absurdity that is Tottenham Hotspur) that generates a profit for it's owners and does well as a club. It's just not how football works - no one who understands the business would accuse someone of that becuase they know it's just not pheasable.

I think he's a bit of a twat for big-noting himself with the anti-SFC stuff when he jumped ship (I understand and respect why he went, he was just a twat about it), but he's a passionate guy who puts his money where his mouth is for the game. We all could use more of his ilk.

Isn't that the whole point of the COE and the associated developments. Different revenue streams will offset what will in many years be footballing losses. You don't buy into a football team to make money. If you can minimise your losses, or make a small profit while indulging your love for football - why not.
