Looking at that run-in, Perth at home is winnable since the Mariners tend to beat them at home comfortably, but Queensland at home could be tricky. Round 20 in Melbourne is shaping up to be a big one unless either side drastically improves their form.

Wellington's run-in:
Queensland (A)
Newcastle (H)
Sydney (A)
Adelaide United (H)
Melbourne (A)

Their away form outside of NSW is abysmal- expect them to beat Newcastle at home and Sydney away but the rest will be very tough for them.

Perth:
Adelaide United (H)
Central Coast (A)
Melbourne (H)
Newcastle (A)
QLD (A)

Perth are in form and confident, I expect them to get points from their last two home games and Newcastle away. Like Wellington, likely to fall short.

Sydney FC:
Melbourne (A)
Wellington (H)
Adelaide United (A - Ad. Oval)
Queensland (A)
Newcastle (H)

This could go either way but with current form and confidence it's possible they won't win any of them :tv:

Queensland Roar:
Wellington (H)
Melbourne (A)
Adelaide United (A)
Central Coast (A)
Sydney (H)
Perth (H)

Queensland's home form has started to turn around, and they remain unbeaten on the road. On recent form they are well capable of getting points in all of those games.

Melbourne Victory:
Sydney (H)
Queensland (H)
Adelaide United (H)
Perth (A)
Central Coast (H)
Wellington (H)

Everyone expected them to finish top 2, but they've hit the skids as of late and the door is open. Big games against Sydney and Adelaide United at home, Queensland at home is tricky as is Perth away. Mariners in the penultimate round could be decisive if it comes to the crunch.

Adelaide United:
Perth (A)
Sydney FC (H)
Melbourne (A)
Newcastle (H)
Queensland (H)
Wellington (A)
Central Coast (A)

Adelaide United have the best home record of any side in the league, with Perth second. If they get results v Sydney and Melbourne they will be well set for first place. Let's just hope they secure the Premiership before the come to Gosford.

My personal prediction for the 4 (in no particular order)

MV
Adelaide
Qld
Mariners

The only one I am not so sure of is MV funnily enough. How badly has the betting scandal disrupted them? Is this a mid season slump or what we have become used to from Ernies side?

If one doesnt make it, I would suggest the sheepshaggers will make it instead

haha, wouldn't even like to see your own team in the finals given you still have a mathematical chance

Looking at the run home, we are starting on the bottom of the ladder on Boxing Day and and making our way up it to round 21. Kind of weird.

As it stands I think there's 5 points separating 1st and 7th. That is ridiculous. Of course the top teams have games in hand, but they are against each other so they can't all skip ahead.

But I wouldn't read too much into the draw, and the home and away games. Every team is capable of beating every other on their day, home or away. It would be interesting to look at a table of the last 7 games or so. I'd bet we'd be a lot more worried about Perth and less worried about Melbourne all of a sudden.

What could be most influential to our chances is if Mile leaves, and/or if the execs pull in a big player for January, finals and Asia.

Other than that, if we keep coming back to avoid losses, get the odd bounce of the ball or a refs call, we'll get enough of a share of points to make it.

Newcastle are coming off a win, while it won't bring all the fans back, it'll boost their confidence, this could be tough and we're coming out of a considerably shaky game.

Perth are definitely going to be tough, with the addition of Sikora who is looking to make his debut on Boxing Day for them. Quality player and exactly what is called for to feed balls to Nikita and Dadi. Both of which have troubled us previously, Nikita is our Krytonite.
Without securing a solid back four this week and hoping Jedi is/stays fit, then I think we're in a lot of trouble. Whoever plays at LB this week HAS to prove themselves, Heff or not.

With Sikora making his debut and the win at SFC last week, you would hope Perth could finally draw a crowd?

Will take more than that to bring crowds back to ME stadium. sneaking into the four may be what it takes to see a positive trend next year.

With the loss of Jedi after NYE, this is going to be very tense. We need 6 points from Scum and Perth.

Welly being beaten by last Roar night wasn't a bad thing. As their GD is currently vastly inferior to ours they are more than 1 win behind.

If in the last 4 games we can get 6 points, Sydney would need 4 wins or Wellington 3 + 1 draw to edge us out of 4th, i.e any loss from 4 for either and 'cherio'.

If we can't get 6, we probably don't deserve to be there anyway.
