Our road to the final 4

This isnt meant to be a doom and gloom post by any means but we cannot afford any more f**k ups like Friday night.

Season 1 - Scum were 4th with 31pts
Season 2 - Sydney were 4th with 29pts
Season 3 - Qld were 4th with 31pts

With 5 games to go, we have 22 points.

Away to the scum
Home to Perth
Home to Qld
Away to Melb
Home to Adelaide

I reckon to get at least 4th, we need to win both our home games and pick up at least a point away - a win at the scumdome would be perfect.

Who fancys Adelaide needing to get something to even make the 4.

Good news is that everyone is taking points off everyone else this year so it will be tight but..........

We must win our Final 3 games at home, that is was is vital to the making the finals.

We must also aleast secure a draw in our final 2 away games. but wins would be even better.

Adelaide still have to play an extra 2 games, Melb and QLd play an extra game, so it is vital to get aleast 3 out of 5 wins in the run home.

It wont help the boys win at home that we are quiet as hell and dont say boo unless we are winning or playing well

Adelaide United are the team to beat, what's more amazing is that they've been able to go top despite their heavy schedule. Melbourne are hitting the skids, and I can't see Sydney FC getting up unless luck is on their side.

Winning the derby will be a big boost for the Mainers- that and winning all three home games should be enough.

$20 we have to do something on the last day to either make the four or come first, or some ridiculous series of events - i.e.  Sydney beat Newcastle earlier in the day to sneak into fourth, and then we have to win by 2 goals or something.

Certainly shaping up to be another Super Sunday though.

Our superior G/D should work in our favour if we draw a few more games and end up on equal points with another team. I can see the boys playing with major improvement next weekend against the Scum.

Bloody hell, that sounds like The Squadron! What's changed since I moved to the Sunshine State? And what do I have to do now that I am back for good?

now is the time for consistancy, weve played some great football this season usually followed up by a fresh serving of a steaming pile of shit

if we can do that we might even win the toilet seat because noone else is really consistant either

Considering that both Queensland and Melbourne have a game in-hand over us, both against Adelaide, and that both are 1 point ahead of us, I think it would be in our best interests that Adelaide pull out way ahead with the league.

Realistically, come finals time there is no difference in finishing first or second (apart from the guaranteed Asian birth, which can also be secured by qualifying to the grand final). If both Melbourne and Queensland beat Adelaide, we would be under immense pressure to make the four with Wellington and Sydney battling it out with us for 4th, with Roar and Victory basically secured 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Also, if Adelaide pull away, we can hope that they rest their main players against us in R21 (after their run of 7 games in January).

And we are still 4th - who would have thunk it after folding against the sheepshaggers?

Boxing Day is now absolutely massive for us - get there if you can

Amazing to think the choppers are still only two points behind us.

I'm glad we've got Glory at home. I wouldn't fancy our chances over there the way they've been playing.

The scum and Melbourne games bother me looking at our run in home.

Who knows how we'll finish up. Can't see top two though to be honest.

Making a GF doesn't 'secure' automatically.

Finish 2nd in the League, make it to the Grand Final only to face a team that finished 3rd or 4th and you HAVE! to win the GF to qualify for ACL.

Lose the GF to 3rd or 4th means you watch the ACL on Fox instead of being there.

I've tried to erase the 05/06 grand final from my memory :)
