i didn't predict that their decline would be so rapid

they had a very decent side on paper but self-destructed

By all unwritten football law about club stability, dressing room atmosphere, off-field harmony, etc, the jets 'should' have come close to last in 07/08. That they had a freak year and won the Championship instead made them unpredictable for this season.
