With all the talk lately of the Tuggerah centre of excellence and the well documented problems we have with Bluetongue I wondered just what everyones long term dreams for our club would be?
We all have our dreams and management must have too.
So let's assume that long term we will have our own stadium at Tuggerah.Personally I think even if we win the world cup bid we won't get nor will we need a 40,000 seater at Tuggerah. In my opinion we will always be a smallish club and a stadium in the 15-20,000 capacity range is all we will ever really need.
This stadium is the home of FC Sion in Switzerland and has a capacity of 20,187.
I like it because....
1.The stands are steep and close to the action.
2.It's covered on four sides.
3.It has a small terracing behind each goal for active fans both home and away.
4.It is big enough to host our biggest crowds but would be atmospheric with a smallish crowd.
5.With four matching but seperate stands/terraces it could be built over time and used while it was being built.
On mainland europe there are many clubs with similar size crowds to our own playing in fantastic little stadiums made and designed for football. This site is a great one for browsing through them.
With a bit of foresight could the little boutique stadium at Tuggerah turn into something like this?
