ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I can see gate takings down if they don't price next seasons' tickets right, I can see less merchandise being sold, and a repeat of the crowd stats for this year in 2009/2010.

Down 18% this year, though we were running closer below that until we got a smaller spike in the last three rounds than the huge one we got last season.

Reasons?

Reasons?

1) Noticed a lot less marketing this season, and coming into the season itself. I think this had an impact.

2) Cricket certainly lifted it's marketing game this season, and possibly took some of our patronage with this.

3) Uncertainty in the family budget? Even as early as June 2008, there were grumblings around that the economy was peaking and the fall was around the corner.

4) NRL Centenary season, stupid RL-WC, lots of media coverage devoted to NRL or AFL even when their seasons had finished. That coupled with the less effective marketing from the FFA made our product 'invisible' for a while.

I am hopeful that with two new teams (and 2 known marquees for them too), that there will be a greater media interest next season. Hopefully the FFA will re vamp the marketing campaign (they'll have to, to include the new teams in their promos). Also if the Socceroos do well and qualify by mid 2009 for the WC 2010, the flow on from that might bring some interest back.

But we really need to break through the general media barriers that are put up by the saturation of stories from NRL and AFL.

its the economy stupid :)

Foxtel installations are up as its cheaper than going out and has anyone else noticed the drop off in the families with young kids at home games this year?

CC is really struggling in terms of housing affordability (worst in NSW IIRC)

Id say it comes down to people finances.
Less advertising from what i can tell anyway.

I think next season, perhaps given the current economy prices should be cheaper per game.
