First half setup was atrocious but we were playing not to concede and stop leaking goals.

We have no one to pass to. Both Doka and Brandtman are not wingers. No pace and need someone to pass to with pace bot be that person.

When Doka is further back his drive on the dribble is valuable and opens things up as well as giving more balance to the team.

Everyone was upset about going backwards but apart from hoofing it to Koul to take on 2/3 players there was no where to go. When we swing it wide the outlet (say smith) had literally one player in half the field to go to apart from backwards again.

The formation sucks and the second half formation is required.

I’ve always felt this way, but we don’t play Kuol to his strengths. I believe he should be playing more on the wings, because right now the current set up is feed him the ball with his back to goal, and expect him to beat 2-3 defenders all on his own which never works

Not sure how we got a result other than City being pretty ordinary and very cautious as they could have come hard at us in the first half but didn’t for some reason.

Not impressed with Sains, cost us a goal and his second yellow in his second game very early in the first half for both. His ability now doesn’t seem to match his intentions and he loses the plot making up for his poor errors and there has been plenty of them. Thats not captain material in my opinion.

We missed Mauragis as Smith was owned the entire time he was on the pitch. Steele practically useless and I counted one forward pass from him the entire match. Alfie works his butt off covering for Steele. A midfielder in January wouldn’t hurt and is my wish list for Christmas. Fix the midfield and we would be a whole lot better.

Worst half of football I’ve sat through for a very long time, shame as the Club and coast put on a good event. The football was mediocre unfortunately and didn’t match the occasion.

Do you actually watch the game or just blame Paull by default.

Surprised you didn't pin the goal on him .
The first 10 minutes Atkinson got in behind Paull 3 times with runs
Atkinson was playing as 2nd central attacker when they went forward
That was when I posted comment
Then Atkinson dropped back to the midfield and left Paull with no attacker to mark the whole game
That's why he he looked better today with so much space around
Allowed him to go forward

MOM
Alfie 3pts - kept the centre tight and was always aggressive
Kuol 2pts- ran all day and pressured their defence
Paull 1pt - scored goal and was much better in his positional play as he didn't have to mark anyone

Worst half of football? I know 2014-2019 was bad, but jeez.

Good result considering all things.

Huge positives are rust coming off from Sains, as much as he is under performing, he is a professional and former Socceroo Captain, he knows more than anyone that the team needs more from him.

Paull is gonna get a huge confidence boost from his recent performance topped off by that goal, he is very much a confidence player so that will be good for the team. He is starting to make some Triantis / Hally style runs penetrating through the middle which has honestly been great to watch. Makes me wonder if he could be a CDM in Steeles place and allow Sains and Kaltak to be the two CBS.
