ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

New coach - now we know

Given where we are now, if we have 9 points from our first 8 games and we're showing improvement in performance, I'd give him till the end of the season

At the coaching conference I attended today Rob Stanton gave an interesting (and surprisingly open and honest) presentation on team building.

Good insight into walking into a club as a new coach in a shorter timeframe and having to deal with the existing issues - inherited squad, no money, no owners etc - while trying to put your stamp on things and get the buy in from players and staff.

Ha great job he's done so far. We're glacially slowly getting better. His team is dogshit and getting worse.

Certainly happy to stick with Jacko this season. There was definite signs of improvement on Sunday with the defence looking more secure( Faz and Kaltak not having to worry about Paull). That's not a criticism of the young CB but with our poor start we needed to have a tried and tested CB pairing.

Wilson may be Jacko's project player and there are some good signs there with better defensive efforts though he does look tentative when he receives the ball as though he isn't sure what to do next.Jacko also is giving Reec and di Pizio valuable minutes which should pay off as the season progresses.I am not sure that di Pizio is ready to take the No 10 role as has been suggested but if Tulio cannot find form or is injured this may be an option.

I was not that convinced by Reec in the past but he is definitely improving with his runs off the ball, ability to control the ball under pressure and moving to good positions in the penalty box when we are attacking.

Faz is getting better and better and kept Ikonimidis and Arzani on a leash and also powers up that sideline in attack. He has that mongrel in him that gives those clever ball players and even the power house that is Irankunda some pause before trying to beat him.

Nizzy is that dynamo who never stops and hardly ever misplaces a pass.Opponents find it difficult to dispossess him when he has the ball.Torres hopefully is buoyed by the penalty which he took well and all in all the team seems to be responding to Jacko's style.

Surely it would both unfair and a bit crazy to can Jackson now? Arrived 5 mins before the season started, inherited a squad (half with a possible GF win hangover) and others new to the club/league and can’t be expected to have them gel and be performing at a very high level immediately.

We are competitive given the squad we have and there are signs of improvement but agree much work to do to get things to click. If we want stability it starts with the coach but we do need to find a way to score more goals as the season develops. That said, I can’t see all of our forwards surviving January window…

Agree it has improved incrementally. Although I'm still more confident of a spoon battle than finals.

As long as we keep competing he is fine. The fight after 3 games during the week against a good team was great to see.

Now we just need some rewards for effort.

I will be very interested to see how he recruits. Not alot of Aussie options for where we are weak and having lost sergio were will we look

I am a bit concerned about us recruiting journeymen out of the UK. I like gambling on guys around 25.
