ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

New coach - now we know

It's been rumoured that a coach has been signed and we're all waiting eagerly...but are we sure there is even a done deal in place? Might be a wait yet

A new manager would surely be part of an organised press announcement/conference, right?

Or would we expect it to just be a newsletter and socials/website post?

I think there's a lot of clubs that are resisting that path now. If the manager doesn't work out it means replacing a full coaching staff which has a massive impact.
A Manager having success and leaving you'd have faith in the staff that were part of that success. If you've fired your manager you might think the staff around him were part of the problem. We're the former so I expect they'll stay. Not sure I'd include Muller in that.

So what happens to our remaining coaches when new person comes in? Open slather, new crew? Control of the Yoof and coaches?
Part of the negotiations I would expect.

Ange took most of the back room staff at Celtic. Helped him coming in as late as he did so it may be similar here. Also gives the players some familiarity rather than having to get used to a whole new staff.

It might be part of the reason for a delay. It may have been a deal breaker for some candidates to not bring their own people.

We don’t have relegation and the stakes aren’t as high as they are in some places. Zero reason why any manager should get to clean house without even meeting the staff. If they can’t work within those constraints they aren’t the best candidate.

Usually managers get open slather on their first team coaches, I'd have thought.
I’ve been wondering about this a lot, and you’re right they do get an open slather. But we probably can’t afford an open slather of foreign coaches… moving them all over here etc. so our case is totally different to any other club. Which is why this apparent foreign hire is quite confusing over the likes of Cahn and Saad. It’s honestly going to make the transition more difficult.

I’d say Bernal and that new “bielsa’s right hand man” guy are non negotiables. And what even is Nicolai Muller doing? Part time coaching? Bryce has proven his worth as fitness coach. The physio/sport science team are high quality too that aren’t part of the coaching staff.

We need a GK coach and assist manager with the new manager.
