Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

National Youth League Fixtures and Mariners youth team discussion

No Kekeris in youth squad and didn’t travel to Perth clearly.

Curiosity peaks... injury?

Took a couple of knocks in the youth game last week, but it didn’t look like anything too serious. My thinking is it’s simply squad rotation - with such a limited amount of games in the NYL, there’s generally a bit of rotation each week to try and get minutes for as many players as possible.

Boys won 2-1 over WSW today. Good to see Berry get game time and score and a Wanderers OG gave us the win. Nice little ground at Marconi.

Good on the boys, really want to get to a game to have a real look.
Wish the NYL ran as long or almost as long as the aleague season, you know, as any other youth competition around any other pro league around the world.

CCM and Wanderers have met 4 times in 2018 at NYL or NPL level. Mariners have won 3 and drawn 1 and are unbeaten against WSW in this calendar year. Wanderers won the NYL title in a 8 game season, but finished 7 places and 18 points behind Mariners in the 26 game NPL. We have scored 9 goals and conceded 4 in the 4 games. The Wanderers team that played this weekend had 8 players who have played for Australia at Under 18 or Under 19 level in the past 4 months. Mariners had none. Young Socceroos coach Ante Milicic (ex WSW) lives in Croatia and selected both the Under 18 side to play in Japan (5 Wanderers players) and the Under 19 side for the AFC Championships (6 Wanderers) after supposedly monitoring the players since May. He must've been really impressed with the Wanderers players and their games against CCm as well as their 11th place finish in the NPL. And people wonder why we are failing at Youth level internationally - obviously its because they don't pick the entire Wanderers team.

O’Connor joins Mariners
By John Davidson Dec 4 2018 2:00PM
Former Socceroo Steve O’Connor has been appointed to coach Central Coast Mariners’ Under-20s academy.
O’Connor is of Australia’s most renowed youth coaches and spent 16 years involved with the AIS football program.

The likes of Mark Bresciano, Vince Grella, Alex Brosque and Luke Wilkshire came through the AIS when he was head coach.

The ex-NSL title-winner, who also earned 15 caps for the Socceroos, has had spells as head coach of the Young Socceroos, technical director at Sydney FC and technical director of the Hong Kong Football Association over the years.

A member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, O’Connor will be tasked with moulding the Mariners’ best young prospects.
