Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

National Youth League Fixtures and Mariners youth team discussion

Thought it was Brandmans best game.

Defense is terrible and midfield gets over run alot but you have to remember they are very young so always going to be dominated physically.

Not sure about Warsorski he is decent but doesn’t look that comfortable and Pierre Curren still a bit young and raw as well. Beach was better than both. If he stayed we could have let Danny retire with more confidence.

Screaming shot by seculna.

They were bigger faster and stronger. Hammonds shot was hit beautifully but the goal of the night for me was that composed chip into the top corner for them. What a goal.

Second half we really improved and gave it a really good crack and the last two goals were down to chasing the game but the holes are a worry.

Interesting that SFC had a super group last two years and a few are now in their A League side and this WSW side looks to be very similar and if this group of ours continues growing together they could be the same in 2 yrs.

We probably started it via NPL 2 though with Hall Alou Niz Balard Steele Faz

Excellent.
Rudan hates playing kids so plenty of recruits for us when they realise they are at the wrong club

just watched the highlights and Brandtman seemed to be in everything going forward. Defs appears a cut above the rest.

The other teams seem to want it a bit more when it comes to picking up scraps and defence (possibly the young ones up against old and not wanting to get hurt/cleaned up) + we seem to be still playing a bit to individualistic and direct.

All shots outside the box, maybe need to try using the youth and going over the top and wide then cut into middle for easier tap in’s.
Some good stuff but as mentioned last game could have had a couple more goals for the draw or win rather than a loss.

Some promising stuff there. I dont usually follow the academy. Just wondering if it is still attracting the talent that it did prior to Monty's departure.

Its attracting the talent. This year they are from all over Oz. But, they are super young. I don't have the knowledge but whether the plan is to keep them together and develop for next couple of years......

Like the Aleague team you still need 2/3 experienced players or leaders to guide the young ones to success.

And more likely that we will produce and sell more players if they are a winning side rather than a defeated and low confidence side.

So did we skimp and try and save paying 2/3 experienced players to lead the academy or were we naive thinking the more youngsters the more opportunity to sell and make money, possibly even before they get a chance at Aleague like young goal keeper to Buyern.

But as we have seen big clubs are much more likely to buy from a winning team and players thrive when winning.

Only early days but still have that feeling that the Peil cost cutting theory might land us back down the bottom of aleague and possibly starting from scratch again.

Or we win the AFC, Aleague finished and 2/3 players go back into Acadamy team, we climb the NPL ladder, we resign Nizzy and sell him to Barcelona and we all live happily ever after.
