ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Im surprised between CFG and Silver Lake there isnt a better media partner.
I expected 10 to be better than they have been. They tried a bit and seemed to give up quickly. They had to know it was a project but instead they got nervous about main channel ratings and gave up. In hindsight perhaps 9/Stan would have been a more reliable partner.

Apparently the Australian Championship name has been lodged. Talk is kicking of in March 2025. 2 more clubs have signed awaiting financial clearances. 2 others have agreed verbally. 2, 3 or 4 states will be represented with 8 to 12 teams.
Interesting choice of name / brand. With no P/R, no reference to 2nd Division, and that choice of name, they are effectively a competitor to the ALM. Two national football competitions being run side-by-side. One of them under the wing of an organisation that in recent times seems to be very competitively administered and has a huge war chest. The other showing signs of emerging from a period of spectacular incompetence but not even enough money to run an awards night. Things could get interesting

I can see your point but I look at it as trying to replicate England.

EPL----------------APL
Championship----Australian Championship
That's a valid point and that may have been there intent.

But if they get a good TV deal and some decent crowds early, without any P/R then there is nothing in the general public's mind or more importantly the medias mind, to identify which is the premier comp.

Full format appears to be:
4x groups of 4 (home and away matchdays), with the top 2 advancing to quarter finals (single leg), then semi final, then final, resulting in 9 games total for the finalists, 6 games total (3 home and 3 away) for those eliminated in the group stage.

The fact that the 8 NST teams have all agreed leads you to think that there is a genuine feeling that this will expand to cover further clubs from other states in the future. Otherwise why would they agree to it.

A standalone home and away league remains a key strategic goal. Once minimum thresholds are achieved, Football Australia aims to expand and evolve the competition format further.
