ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Read it if you want but if you do, can someone tell me what it was about please?

(I read this corpo-babble for a living and even I reckon its a load of nothing)

"The meeting explored a raft of potentially exciting options including the scope for one Blades Family international portal, global commercial leveraging opportunities...related activations across the "family" venues."

Que?

I think it means SUFC had a meeting with all its "World of Blades" clubs and it was all nice and everybody got on fine and they had a few brainstorming sessions over 2 days.

Love to know what "related activations across the family venues" mean.

Maybe Mr Gorman is toeing the paymaster's line by saying nothing about our so called relationship with a mediocre English club. Did anyone else notice there's no mention of Sao Paolo. Is there no relationship with them anymore? They were the only club we could benefit from and maybe they're gone now.

because mccabe's capital for the tuggerah complex is completely worthless to us.

Not dismissing this contribution (when it happens). It's absolutely massive and sounds world class that will set us up for life. Would like to see Mr Gorman mention it every now and again though and give us some progress.

I should have stated that my comments were player related. Haven't see anything to suggest we have gained anything in that respect.

No need for the sarcasm either. You can make your point without it.

Agree and given the TG (Tuggerah Complex) is so important a up date on what is going on is overdue..

A side issue the Nix management comment on the fans forum and fans can ask questions of management ... there is a degree of control by the mods to keep the questions above why is player X being paid or my pie was cold last night.. It works very well .. I wonder if our management would ever consider the same.

It's not a bad idea if it's controlled properly.

DUFC have a similar thing where the chairman, manager or another director will answer questions from fans. The mods control it pretty well but you have to be a member of arabtrust to access that part of the site which tends to weed out most undesireables anyway as you have to pay to join.

That's another thing.Arabtrust is a supporters group who are actually the 2nd biggest shareholders in the club and so the supporters actually have an elected member on the board. The supporters were actually encouraged by our late chairman to set this up.

I wouldn't mind seeing something similar set up here in the future.

I was thinking the same thing Arab (ever since I saw Arabtrust when I was researching the origins of your profile name...lol).

How much do members pay and apart from access to management via the forum (which is a great idea) what are the benefits (apart from a sense of well being)?

We use to have something like that on the old forum, where we asked questions and im pretty sure benny coonan was the one who answered them (Correct me if i am wrong) and not many people asked questions and when people did ask questions it took about a month or longer for it to be answered or even looked at and so when we came to the new fourm i guess we just thought it wasnt worth it.

The sponsor signage part is interesting. I would like to hear more details on that.

If it means cross exposure between clubs for sponsors then that could be  massive for the mariners in securing corporate sposors in the future.

If it means the family as a whole will try to gain a sposor for all teams associated then thats another win for us.

Is there anyone with some insider connections who could ask the question?

Sao Paolo are not part of the "group" i believe. They just have a sister club relationship with SU.

As I have said before don't hold you breath for things to happen.  SUFC has always being really good at "having plans" or "having a vision" but not so good on the excecution and delivery.  We have finally seen a couple of decent players in Kyle Walker and Kyle Naughton come through the SUFC academy which in itself was built several years behind schedule after great fanfare when first announced although it will be interesting to see how long it is before we cash in and sell them off (alhough to be fair they do look like they should be playing in the premiership).

There have been plans for a Hotel/Casio or some sort of development at Bramhall Lanes as far back as I can remember and although the ground has improved significantly it has come to nothing.

We always seem to have Chairman who think they are Abromavich and talk like him when it comes to investment in the team but always ends in tears and quite often jail for the chairman as it turns out they are crooks!

We were promised big $ from sponsorships from China which is why we bought a team there, we appear to still be waiting.

McCabe has been there a long time now and the club probably has more stability than previously but it certainly doesn't have the $$ to invest and sells off it's best assets regularly - selling Beattie as Christmas was a prime example and very similar to the Mariners selling Jedinak.  We should have got automatic promotion but the goals dried up as we replaced him with a number of substandard players.

I'd like to be more optimistic but having suffered for 30 years as a Blade I am far too realistic now.

The China Blades side i believe is very much in its infancy. (1 or 2 seasons??) And they are correct in believing that major sponsorship $'s could come from it. But more than 'having' a side there would be required. From what i gather the side is a bottom dweller and they would need to have regular representation in the ACL for any major sponsorship from the region. This is where a 'star' player(s) would be needed from a family point of view to gain media coverage in Asia.

In saying that, the idea that a sponsor could cash in on 3 - 4 different markets under one sponsorship is tasty. If they believe that SU will gain lucrative sponsorship just because they have ties to a chinese team, then.........

It comes down to how willing they are to get into Asia and sell their brand. Being a football club the best way to do that is on the field. Unfortunately it seems to be the one place they (players, management, etc) are unwilling to (or can not) help out in.

I am excited for the future though. Great plans. But as you say, 30 yrs of 'great plans' and not much realization must be frustrating.
