The club went through multiple alternatives with Venues Live but this was the least worst outcome.
Unfortunately, it’s not like the club can outright say to VL “no, you can’t do what you want with the stadium that you manage”.
This. Obviously this. Thank god you can hand out the odd informed fire extinguisher around here Pete.
As if Shaun and Richard would have thought this was a good idea and be happy about it. They'd have to be bonkers. But if you run our club, you have no choice but to try and work with what's thrown at you.
Cool heads and perspective required.
This sucks. No arguments here. So by all means, let's all be pissed at Venues Live and or pissed at Central Coast council. But unless you're privy to some serious information that others aren't, it makes zero sense to start screaming at the club and getting our pitch forks out. Except for FFC, he sleeps with his under his pillow anyway. And Ancient if FFC was "right all along" by my count the club would have gone under three thousand, four hundred and sixty five times. (per year).
Recap, what we've actually been seeing is a lot of of hard work and investment coming out of this administration that is paying real dividends... our best season since our hey day, and look at the culture in and around the club right now. Crowds building. team happy, successful... etc etc etc...
So turning on the club over something obviously out of their control right now is just bonkers.
It does however look like we've been screwed over by yet another greedy corporation because council has repeatedly refused to give a shit about it's only true tenant. And I think any member losing long term seats have every right to be furious. I also think the club should do whatever they can to compensate those members moving forward. Presumably this will be foremost on the agenda for the forum. Which is actually another sign of good governance. Not poor governance. Also empty banks of central seating always absolutely galls me. Which is what we'll now get.
But how do you stop VL from executing their business plan when council has given them the rights?
Also while I'm here, have no issue with Richard reaching out to the stakeholders about the financial struggles and saying we need to get to 8k. All he's asked is do what you can to get new people to games and if you have business consider sponsorship. Big deal.
I have no issue with this at all. I do think we need some tools to help achieve this, but it's hardly something we should be pissed at him for. Where has the charity gone in our society? Everyone is always assuming the absolute worst possible motives of each other. It's exhausting and self defeating.
Really are damned if you do, damned if you don't sometimes.
