ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Gotta give the Wolfe man a bit more time! One run in the yoof team shouldn't have you branded average. I would think he's not had much game time lately so will need some time to get back to match fitness. 3 or 4 games minimum before we can really make a judgment call.He has a reasonable background so wouldn't make sense to give up on him this early.

Agree. If he was so poor how did he make it this far? Or is he one of those fancy pants types who look good at trials & then proceed to do nothing for ever after.

He came on recommendations from Sheffield United I believe but not every player fits the system out here. His first trial for us was against Spirit FC and he was average.

Welshman on the Crowell

Three months after an impressive trial, Welsh midfielder Matthew Crowell has returned to Australia, to put pen to paper on a deal which will keep him at Bluetongue Stadium until the end of the season.

Crowell showed his class in wins over Queensland State League side Logan United and Hyundai A-League newcomer North Queensland Fury, before returning to the UK to honour a pre-existing contract with Blue Square Premier Division outfit Altrincham.

We were very interested in Matt from the outset, but of course respected his contractual obligations back in the UK, said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

Now he has tied up all the loose ends with his British club, we are delighted to have Matt back on Australian soil, and look forward keenly to his contribution to the Mariners.

Crowell began his professional career as an apprentice at the famed academy of then English Premier League club Southampton, which also produced the likes of England legend Alan Shearer, Tottenham and Wales defender Gareth Bale, and Arsenals exciting youngster Theo Walcott, along with of course the clubs favourite son, Matt LeTissier.

Crowell worked alongside Qantas Socceroo Scott McDonald at St Marys Stadium before moving to North Wales, to link up with League Two outfit Wrexham, where made 93 appearances, and was part of the LDV Vans Trophy (now Johnstones Paint Trophy) winning team of 2006.

After a short stint at Conference side Northwich Victoria, Crowell moved to nearby Altrincham, the club part owned by Australian cricket captain Ricky Ponting.

Matt was really good for us in Queensland and hes come back in and he fits in really well at training. He gets on well with the lads and has a bit of a presence about him, so were looking forward to seeing how he does.

Hes a youth international and has done very well in the UK, so we hope he can come in and provide a bit of extra spark in the midfield, said McKinna.

A defensive midfielder by trade, Crowell will be looking to put in some impressive performances in the yellow and navy, in the hope of securing a contract beyond the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season.

Well see how he goes and we dont need to make any decisions just yet, Im just looking forward to seeing how he goes on the park and not worrying about anything too far ahead, said McKinna.

Seeing Punter's got the brass to invest in a lower level footy team in Pommieland, maybe he could be persuaded to invest in an upper level team in his homeland. Maybe even in the Mariners (he does live in Sydney even though he's a Tasmanian) then we could afford to get a marquee!
On second thoughts, we're doing OK without one, so why bother.  ;D
