ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Matildas thread

It depends how willing the squad is to accept change. Are they operating as a modern high performance squad or are players still trying to have things on their terms? From memory some of the changes Staj wanted to bring in were at the core of how things blew up.

Women's sports have skyrocketed in visibility and presumably professionalism should follow. Do we hold the matildas to the same standards as the boys?
Aren't they on the same pay scale as the Socceroos? Is so they definitely should be held to the same standards.

The whole Matilda saga has been a shit storm since the never explained sacking of Stajcic.Top striker that she is Sam Kerr is the Alpha female of the pack and she is the one the others listen to.The sisterhood controls the team culture and Staj came up against this and eventually he was forced out(Heather Reid and some female football journalists colluded with the sisterhood)

The WC result was good for women's football and women's sport in Australia and other sports have been able to cash in though the women's league does not appeared to have had great benefit. However there was a element of luck involved as really the team's play in the group games was pretty dire.To be fair the Matildas were gritty and rode their luck and the penalty shoot out with the French was memorable and a great moment in Australian sport.

Tony G is a personable and engaging character but it appears he let the sisterhood still have a lot of control over team selection. This seems to be the only way that Van Egmond and Polkinghorne made the Olympic squad. He has been criticised for not bringing younger players through but apart from the above mentioned cultural issues there appears to be a dearth of young players who are up to national team standard.

I went to several Mariners womens games last season.Really there was a lot of enthusiasm, commitment and some excellent goalkeeping but many of the younger players were very average in their passing and ball control skills so perhaps the coaching at junior levels leaves much to be desired.

well heather garriock must be a contender . i'd appoint her as interim coach till .
it's sorted . the coach needs to have a working knowledge of the w-league .
There's decent wraps on the assistant - mel andreatta - and the young Matildas coach Leah Blayney.

Garriock was part of the agitation against staj. She was certainly very vocal from the media.

A top coach worth hiring won't take long to get up to speed on the a league. They don't need to come with a working knowledge.

Ch9 surprised "wow they didn't wait long"
His contract expired you twats
They were also hoping to cash in on the Matildas as a draw card for the olympics. The best parts of the olympics is the sports we don’t see except for the olympics and nine haven’t been doing a good job in their knowledge on much of it
