I don't think we will have problem getting tickets to our game, they would definatly have an away supporters allocation. What I'm still trying to arrange are tickets to Urawa game on the Sat before we play.

Do you mean the Mariners Club? I have sent numerous emails and I have spoken over the phone to the club with no success. There must be a contact in Japan who the Mariners club are dealing through. Someone is booking the accommodation and organising access into the stadium for the Mariners players.

Maybe contact the club and see if they can help!

Hey guys, I sent the following email to the guy from Japan mentioned in an earlier post

Firstly congratulations on your website. Very thorough and well researched. I am travelling to Tokyo in April to attend the ACL match between my club Central Coast Mariners and Kawasaki Frontale. While in Tokyo I was hoping to attend a J League match, I arrive weekend of 17th April and I see Urawa have a home game at Saitama on the Saturday the 18th. I was wondering if you could give me some advice about getting tickets to this match? Because I arrive the night before the game I am worried about missing out if the game is a sell out? I have tried to pre purchase tickets but all the websites are in Japanese so very difficult for me to translate especially where the seats are categories etc. Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Glenn,

Reds matches often do sell out, but since the opponent is Kyoto Sanga, I suspect that demand for tickets will not be as strong as it is for a more high-profile contest. If you arrive early, you probably will be able to get tickets, though they may be up in the nosebleed section of the upper deck. If you do not know anyone who lives in Japan, purchasing advance tickets will be difficult. I suggest that you just buy tickets at the gate.?

Though scalping tickets is illegal, people often do have spare tickets they are looking to sell. If you carry a sign as you walk towards the stadium you may very well find someone who wants to sell you tickets to very good seats (and usually at face value). The creativity of the sign may have a big influence on your success. Suggestions: "Reds-loving, Frontale-hating Australian needs tickets", or something along those lines.

Good luck!

I have two return flights to Tokyo booked on Sunday the 19th from Sydney and arriving back on Thursday morning. Unfortunately I cant go anymore. I have read the fineprint on the back of the ticket and all bookings are non-refundable. However you are able to change the date, time and passenger names on the tickets. So my question is, is there anyone out there that wants to go to see the game but hasnt got flights yet? And if so, would they like to buy my flights off me. The tickets cost me $660 each for carry on luggage only going over and 20kg checked luggage coming back. Anyone interested?

I have just received an email from the club it says:

Due to the difficulty in purchase tickets in advance for the match in Japan we are talking to Kawasaki Frontale to see if we can buy a number of tickets in advance for our members

Mmmm.....I can believe it If my own experience is anything to go by! Very frustrating and quite a reality check. We are so used to being able to answer any question or solve any problem with the good old World Wide Web yet all I am trying to do is pre book a ticket to a football match and I am completley at a loss as to how to do it!

Andre_1 - I know that link is for games that have already happened, but it might be enough to give you an idea of where to go about getting tickets for games that are coming up.

Thanks Serious14. I have found links before to the various ticket sites the problem is they have no translate button so working out what the hell is going on is difficult! I don't know if you saw my earlier post with an email from old mate in Japan? He suggested just turning up and buying them at the gate, he reckons because they are playing an unfashionable team we should be able to get tickets? The other alternative is find a Pub that shows the games and get on it! Which is not a bad idea you would have to admit?

Based on my own experience in Japan, the pub idea is a very good one.  Pre-game in Yokohama there were a lot of spares floating around - Australian End, Japanese End, and sidelines.  I see no reason why it wouldn't be different for a club game, but how good is your Japanese??

Can say that again! I was a flight attendant in another life, flew for Qantas for 13 years went to Japan many times. Nothing better than a plate of Gyoza and several Asahi Super Dry's. Can't wait I'm salivating just thinking about it! Combine that with a Mariners game and well that is Nirvana!
