Mariners v Roar

If we win this week I think the premiership will be ours, despite Roars decent form they're still the most organized team along with us in the league who if they start to fire can do damage. Perth are on a good run but i always think they'll leak goals and Wellington have been pretty inconsistent, their key will be keeping players like ifill fit.

Anyway, we're missing Ryan, Amini, Bozanic and Hutch, Pasfield to obviously start, Rogic in the middle? Or will Arnie go McBreen for some muscle in that number 10 role? If last week went ahead he was going McBreen and Ibini up front so I can't see that changing. That left side is a big question though, will he go McDonald? Or will he play Hearfield in midfield? The most important thing is our back 4 isn't changing, those guys know each other so well.

Roar lose Nichols, Jurman and Visconte, Nichols the big loss but our losses are greater than theirs!

We've never beaten Brisbane at home in the HAL, I fancy a draw tbh

I'd say the lineup might be something like:

----------- Pasfield
Pedj - Wilko - Dutchie - Rose
--------------- Griff
Hearfield ------------ Weemac
------------ McBreen
Bernie------------------ Kwas

or
---------Rogic
Bernie---------- McBreen

Kwas did well against Brisbane last year. Just depends where Arnie wants the strength of McBreen (midfield or up front).

Sutton on the bench maybe?

Sutton won't be in the line-up; Arnie could spring a surprise by playing Musialik instead of Amini; Whoever plays, and I don't thing Marquee is far off the mark, the depth of this club is quite remarkable - the bench will still be very strong (except I have no idea who the goalkeeper is that Arnie has named)

Musty in the Olroo camp... not too sure Porter & Pele are on the bench .. are strong players...

He's saying in response too Roy's statement of impressive depth, that if Pellegrino and Porter are on the bench, he does not consider them strong players, and thereby potentially not a strong bench.

I speak fluent Midfielder.

What I am saying, looking at Marquee's suggested line-up is, exluding the 'keepers, we have ten outfield players, plus 4 players missing, plus (say) Kwas, Rogic, Sainsbury on the bench and we still have Musialik, Pelle and Porter who can't make the team - which in my book gives us a strong bench (not to mention the soon to be here John Sutton)

Mat Ryan has been immense in the last few weeks, while our usual rock solid defence has shown signs of frailty and fatigue. After the enforced break it's time for the defence to step up and make sure that Justin is eased back into first team football.

In the last few games CCM have gone a goal down or been pushed in the first half. Wishful thinking, I would like to see them lead at half time and finish strongly, especially against Brisbane.
2-0 to Us.

Let's hope the week off didn't hurt our momentum. I reckon they will go flat out at us in the first 20 mins or so to find out...

Would be great to end the Meow's unbeaten run at BT, however I just have a feeling it will be a draw.

Very shit first half, better second half but dear god the finishing made me cry. Maybe buying a new striker was a good idea after all. And Matt Ryan really does save our bacon more often than not. Christ I hope he doesnt get hurt playing for the Olyroo's. Pasfield trys but he's not up to scratch.

Chris Griffiths-Jones pulled off quite a feat - I regard him more stupid and one sided than Matt Breeze. Never seen such a crap performance.

Also Berisha wins "Biggest sook in the league" for me. Never have seen anything that came close to that pathetic act.

I think the "week off" hurt us more/ The good news is we seemed to be much better as the game wore on and then dominated. I think this loss will be a bump in the road in the scheme of things. But god we need Matty Ryan back.

Credit to Roar. They pressured us and were better in every aspect tonight. They were very tidy indeed. Less complimentary about the referee. We no doubt deserved a few cards, but none to the Roar? He was a total knob.

I think we definitely lacked a target man in the Matty Simon mold. Hopefully Mr Sutton will deliver this.

Until then I think it's a case of...

It was as close to blatant bias as I've seen in the A League.

Still, Brisbane were the better side on the night, and could have won by more than two. A first half shot cannoned into the post with Pasfiled well beaten, a ball dribbled along the line without going in and the sook missed a itter very late on. TBH we weren't in it tonight

I thought we would lose when i saw our line up and sadly it played out like that.

We were dross in the first half and much improved in the second.

We have not played one decent game since Simon left so Sutton needs to be drafted in ASAP.

Pasfield 5.5. Looked good at everything apart from actually saving the ball.
Bojic 7. Good effort. One of our best
Wilko 6.5. OK performance.
Dutchy 6. Average defensively but still good on the ball
Rose 6. Not very impressive.
Pelligrino 6. Not good enough to play for the Mariners.
Griffo. 6.5. OK
McBreen 7. Worked very hard.
Wee Mac 7.5. The only bloke switched on tonight apart from Bojic.
Bernie 6. Insipid but again given NO support.
Hearfield 6. Might as well play Porter up front. Decent utility player but front line striker.....look at his finishing on his two decent chances.

Subs:

Kwassie 6.5. Should have started.
Rojic 6. Gets into good positions and one for next year.
Siansbury 6.5 This kid is starting to grow on me. Shows decent potential.

We missed our trio hugely and still missing a strike partner for Bernie.
Kwasnik should have started.
We were outplayed by Brissy tonight but still played with heart and still are a decent team but we were let down by team selection and missing four of our best players (i'll include Simon it that until he is replaced by a decent starting player).

3 pts WeeMac
2pt Bojic
1pt McBreen
