Will there be a radio coverage on Friday?

hi sandra

we have secured the rights for the finals series (apart from grand final - separate rights) so will be covering the match

good news is that we have secured rights for the ACL so will be covering every match the mariners are participating in

Funny to see this thread slip off the main page...

Marco at the Courier-Mail of Brisbane reports today that QLD will be staying in Terrigal all week next week, because some of their players had to come to the awards night on Monday and they wanted to have a whinge about travel. I'd hate to see them with a travel schedule like Adelaide have had!

The FFA is paying for their holiday. I hope the FFA is planning on putting the Marinators up in QLD for the night?

Anyway, my point is, who will be there to keep them awake each night a la Uruguay in Sydney November 15 2005?

Its not hard when the main page is made mostly of sticky's!

And I will happily take on this task. Any helpers?
i was actually one of the guys who was outside the hotel - one of the funniest nights ever, one of the guys let off massive firecrackers which brought the police out but we did see the lights in the hotel come on and the players looked outside, then a team official came and told us off lol

anyone have any connections to the kitchen staff or other employees?

Im think a nice bit of food poisoning (Tottenham style prior to last game of 05/06 season) is in order

Was that the dodgy lasagne thing? that is blamed for costing Spurs 4th place, and all the riches that come with UCL?

correct....although the hotel was actually cleared and was believed it was just a viral infection which spread through the squad

It's a tough 1, Lawrie needs to be cautious yet take it to them at the same time.

I would opt for something like :

----------------Danny
Porter-----Wilko-------Boogs/Stringers------Bojic
-----------Osman-----Hutch
Simon-------Caceres/Gumps-------Mrdja/Sash
--------------Macca

Bench - Redders, Stringers/Boogs, Mrdja/Sash and Caceres/Gumps

We played this when we played QLD a few weeks ago and it worked ok in parts, our defence was just having a shocker that day.  With the players we have I think this will work best.

Personally I'd probably bench Caceres, he's been average, plus Gumps has been playing ok recently.  Stringers was exceptional against Adelaide but can be handle the mobility of QLD's attack? Mrdja or Sash? Sash is fresh and a big game player I'd give him the nod.

Agree, would start Sash ahead of Nik but I dont expect to see him (the "Gumprecht" syndrome from last year)

Last time we played them, the difference was down the left. If we can stop them their, we will go ok.

As I said earlier, if we can go up there 1 up or level, we will beat them

must go after them. kill or be killed, and they'll come out hard for the away goal.

i wouldn't necessarily start 3 up front at home, but certainly away or if we need to chase a goal. we're capable of scoring a lot, if you're going to cut loose it has to be either because you're behind or because you're away. we can't afford to give away goals at home, but if that's already happened we have to punch and punch hard.

a big problem is that sasho's been essentially left out of the game of late - if anyone thinks that hasn't been as big a problem as no mile then i think they're dreaming.

                    Danny
Porter      Wilko      Stringers        Bojic
              Boogs    Hutch
  Simon        Caceres            Macca
                    Sash

-Redders
-Gumps
-Owens
-Mrdja

Boogs and Hutch can play in defence if needed due to injuries, poor form etc.
Owens would more than likely become a straight swap for Caceres if he isn't playing his best.
Mrdja could come in as an impact at the 70th to push if needed or to give Sash a break.
Gumps is a 60-70 minute impact, end of.

Will have to watch out for Zullo and Minniecon down the wings.
If we contain them we will win.

Time to break the curse of the Roar at Bluetongue, 2-1 mariners.
-Matty, Macca - Central Coast Mariners
-Van Dijk - Queensland Roar.

Off topic, will be expecting a lot of noise from the bay this Friday guys.
Bring your family and friends, don't let us down.

Boags    Wilko    Stringers    pej
Hutch    Caceras  gumps    porter
      Matty      D'mac/ Sasho

i think porter has been more effective playin wider than playin at back , move hutch wide hasent been effective in the midfield , caceras is my dark horse to step things up in the midfield get some creativity happinin,

we would get absolutely smashed with that formation against qld, boogs is not quick enough to deal with their mobility out wide like that

is Clarkie still out ?  I thought he was only out for 1 match.....Adelaide.

I almost agree with Torres

                    Danny
Porter      Wilko      Stringers        Bojic
                  Boogs
Hutch                            Caceres
                    Sash
  Simon                    Macca

-Redders
-Gumps
-Owens
-Mrdja

now I know most people on here don't think much of Sash......but he's one of the best talents we've got and he has good vision and thinks fast...as well as good skills.  However, if he's on the outer with Lawrie then he probably won't even be on teh bench.

Scum now, must never wear the shirt again
why shoot yourself in the foot ?  just because he's going after the finals, doesn't mean we shouldn't play him in the finals.  if he's fit enough and good enough, (and has the right mental approach for the game) he should play for the Mariners.....we're paying his wages this season, we should get every little bit we can out of him before he goes.
