Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hmmm - we play against Aloisi as a Manager for the first time.

Can someone please remind me again what he said about us when he left to go to bling on his oh so successful stint there?

Please do - I genuinely don't remember

For the record in Season 3 we finished premiers and Sydney finished 3rd and were knocked out in the minor semi by Roar. In Season 4 we finished 4th and they finished 5th.

“I’m excited to be at Sydney FC,” Aloisi said. “I am still a very ambitious person and I want to win things and I see Sydney FC as the team to do that with. Last year I saw the Sydney game against LA Galaxy with 80,000 people and the game against Melbourne with 33,000 people and it was also a factor.

“Kossie (John Kosmina) was also a reason for me coming to Sydney FC. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Kossie as a person and a coach and I am looking forward to playing under him.”

“I’m a Sydney boy and I’m looking forward to coming back and playing for Sydney FC,” Bridge said. “Sydney FC is a big club and they are putting together a good squad for next season and I am excited to be part of it.”

Something about wanting to play for a big club.

:redcard:

Didn't he get his own. And I believeit's spelt, Aloi$i. ;)

I can't stand this "big club" rubbish propagated by fox sports commentators. This will be determined in time. And the big city clubs are in a better position demographically to achieve this sure.

But our league is seven years old. 50 years from now when clubs have regular sell out crowds, sophisticated infrastructure and huge trophy cabinets, we'll know who the "big" clubs genuinely are.

Till then we have several clubs that can all claim to be very successful, us high among. And some clubs that belong to big cities, some of whom have a few thousand more supporters than others.

They are big city clubs. Not big clubs. Though MV obviously is the front runner in terms of support. We are in terns of vision and infrastructure. SFC has some catching up to do.

He said watching over 80,000 people pack ANZ Stadium last November to watch Sydney against LA Galaxy spurred his decision to switch clubs.

"I wanted to be part of something big," Aloisi said.

He did win the double with them in 2010.

Just saying...

He may have been on the team, but how many actual games did he play, or score in....

Personally I have a lot of time for JA ... we got by far our best crowds when he was with us... and I met him a couple of times and he was very respectful of my family and friends...

That he joined a team for more money ... like name three sports people of any sport that have not ...

Tho he was a decent bloke and arguably our best striker ....

I like him, and good luck to him as coach and for the Hearts' sake. Except for when they're playing the Mariners, then I hope they lose 5-0
*grin*

. re JA i also found him to be very approachable and came across quite humble. no doubt what he said when he moved to sydney was to appease his new paymasters and garner the support of the sydney fans ... but it did make him far less respectful in my eyes

. oh and then there was the whole 'pointing to his name thing' when he came back to the 'tongue ... not exactly classy

. i hope we win ... and win well

Paolo Maldini, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville

+ back in the day John Hutchinson, Alex Wilkinson, Matt Simon, Danny Vukovic...

All have since moved on or been loaned at different times, but I think all turned down bigger money moves to stay with us around the same time Aloisi moved.

Small squad picked by Arnie this week.

Also Ben Williams isn't refereeing this week. No surprise there.

He was great when he was with us, but I thought the comments when he left were poor. Others have left with class but he didn't.

I had completely forgotten the shirt pointing, but I remember the point blank miss at Sydney, and the booing.

Anyway with we should win 2-0 I reckon.

Probably thinking of the season after he left us, 2008-09, scored 2 goals (not including post-season cup) including a penalty against us... and if I remember right he missed that one at first and they let him take it again so he could score.
