ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Sorry but there was more to it than that, the club had him playing in the senior squad not even on a scholarship and my understanding is that there were times that the senior players put in for him from their own pockets to cover his petrol costs etc.

Sounds to me like the playing group thought enough of him to do that but let’s not forget we are talking about a time when Mulvey was in charge, so there wouldn’t be many on here that would endorse his overall recruitment strategy surely?

Anywho, it’s all academic now but just points to how the club was operating back then.

In the future I hope to see a long term contracted player in the following positions:

Goalkeeper
Centreback
Midfield

As long as we have long term contracted players in these positions, with long term contracts and a good weekly wage we can develop our youth and sell them in those other positions.

That would be an ideal scenario, if we could get 2 that'd be OK.

No. I think it was a joke comment about the clubs total unwillingness to share any news with its fans
Correct. Joke about lack of information from team on injuries.

I am far from an insider

I know they probably think it’s a competitive advantage to not let the other teams know you are injured so they don’t know who to prepare for but surely bad injuries like Trent and possibly this one should be announced. It frustrates the fans not to know something

We don’t need to know exact weeks but some thing to say it’s not season ending or it’s going to be a while.

I think we have been better or no worse at a minimum it is a lot to ask of a 16yr old

I know they probably think it’s a competitive advantage to not let the other teams know you are injured ...

This is exactly the reason - they believe withholding injury information prevents giving other teams a competitive advantage.

I’m not sure it gives them the advantage they think it does, but it definitely creates frustration for fans who feel left in the dark. Even a general update - like confirming whether an injury is season-ending, a ballpark time frame, or progress on rehab if there is any - would go a long way. It gives fans some hope and keeps us connected to the players rather than having them disappear from sight being totally forgotten.
