Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

And in the find a word too……
And spelt backwards like Vuka was.

And playing in Portugal where we just got Ayongo from.

in fact last time Ayongo played Kelechi, Ayongos team got the upset. But Kelechi helped Casa Pia get promoted back to the Portuguese top flight.

It’s a very mariners type signing.. along the lines of Beni and Ayongo - good level, young enough to still be hungry, and unheard of in Aus.

I'd prefer an experienced hard headed Jock. The backline was completely lost against Sydney.

Might be a Mariners type player but I think we would all be with Wombat, not what we need at CB right now. We need the Hanlon-type - someone who has played 300+ games in a decent standard league.

The only way this guy would make sense is if we have landed two CBs and the other one is the more experienced one - either using both visa spots, or the other one is non visa e.g. Rhys Williams, Michael Jakobsen (if he has his citizenship) or even Wilko. If you are looking for clues in the wordsearch, Kerechi is actually this guys first name not surname, and there is also a "Rhys" in the grid, so maybe its the two of them. But Oz seems to have some inside info and he hinted the new signing was "more impressive" than Hanlon - the only one of the above names that might meet that criteria is Wilko (and even then, probably more for the romance side than the footballing side given his age)

We went young last year with Kye being the most experienced. You replace Kye level and we are good. Dan also suffered on the left and wasn’t used to his partner which didn’t help. Dan may be in for a fight just to get over triantis.

Sometimes an old hard head is good but needs to be the right sort with our playing group.

Danny will add alot the this disorganisation. He knows how to keep and is a commanding presence. Sozer is trying just to show he is a good keeper. Throwing in a young backline with no partnerships is not what sozer needed that day

This is when guys like Hall and Sozer need to show what type of person they are. Nothing wrong with just being one of the boys. But when the team needs someone back there to step up and take command, you find out who is your guy.

Hasn't proven to be either, yet. Looks like they'll have to spend another season being guided. Not a bad thing though.

Just on Hall - he seemed to have a great deal of strapping on. He might not have been fully fit.

Good point
Maybe that pressure lead to Dan having a bad day or maybe it was just a bad day

Experienced centre-back Brian Kaltak also featured in the game having returned to the club on trial after an impressive trial the end of last season was cut short due to injury. Head Coach Nick Montgomery was keen to invite the Vanuatu international back and he played 90 minutes alongside Dan Hall and then Cameron Windust, thwarting Wellington’s attack and helping keep the clean sheet.

That Vanuatu trialist played in the friendly. I’m sure he’s an okay player and all, decent age. But his CV is VERY average.

It isn't a horribly bad one. The Kiwi top tier is probably better than or at the very least equal to NPL. Auckland City are probably the best side outside the A-League in Australia/New Zealand.

It's worth remembering the Roy Krishna came to the A-League with a similar CV.

Has also represented his nation in over 20 matches. If Monty/Sergio/Ken see potential I would be happy to see him as minimum wage visa signing.
