ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

So do we know who will be front and centre? Is thecoast.cc staying, are we going back to having Central Coast on there ala my signature? The season's less than a month away and no real news on our kit...?

The website will be going. I have heard that. But I am not sure if that means the "central coast" will be back, or something different, or another sponsor altogether

Big mistake in my humble opinion. 3 Brickies, 2 Plumbers and a Sparky listen to Star on the Coast! Ratings (and therefore exposure) wise there is 2go then Seafm .......daylight (insert sound effect of crickets).......and then Star. I personally think it is a better move for StarFM than the Mariners, they might be able to use the Mariners popularity to garner some listeners.

Star isn't THAT far behind Seafm. From the 2008 survey, they experienced bigger growth than Sea from 2007 - 2008. So your statement should be ammended to something like... 2GO.... daylight (insert sound effect of crickets)... then Seafm closely followed by Star.

From a marketing perspective you would have to think that after four seasons the potential to get new customers from 2GO and Sea-FM is very low.

This deal gives them access to a different market and the potential to leverage this new market into customers.

Star-FM has also been alot more innovative on the coast in terms of their advertising and event marketing. They will be able to bring a fresh, new approach to marketing the Mariners and see things from a different set of eyes.

All for shaking things up a bit if it is not for the long-term detrement of the club.

Interesting discussion guys, (thanks for the attachment Atomic) whilst 2GO may have the lions share of the total listening numbers, what kind of audience do they have? Are 2GO's listeners mainly made up of the generation that wouldn't be interested in coming to the games? Are StarFM listeners more of a younger audience?

Time WILL tell Andre.

To suggest StarFM's listening audience is terrible is quite laughable, but to go as far to say the deal will do more to make Mariners fans aware of the station is bordering on... well... stupidity.

As MarinerMick said, there is a whole market who don't listen to 2GO and Sea FM that can be tapped into and they're more likely to be the ones with the disposable income to get behind the Mariners. Demographic-wise 2GO has the oldies corner covered (hence them topping the ratings, most of our local pop is oldies), Sea FM caters to the younger ones, while Star FM is a big favourite amongst the 25-50 age group.

This doesn't even factor in the fact that Star FM's ratings become extraordinary given they're a station less than 5 years old. Any commercial radio station able to sustain that level of advertising and promotion after that long must be doing something right.
