I 100% share the concern that we haven't fielded our first 11 yet.

Alot of trialists taking valuable minutes here... Let's sort out this first 11 and start to f**king dominate.

I'm kind of torn, his movement is quite good and he gets himself into some great positions but his touch and execution were very poor in the Tassie games. If we can improve his skills at training he could be a very useful player. If not he'll end up on the bench.

Unlikely to be a starting player.

He also has a good work rate and attitude from what I can tell. And is capable of moments of flare. But his decision making and first touch were poor against a slower less talented Hobart.

We dont know how hard Staj flogged them in training in Tassie - we looked flat and that could be fatigue. Also, we were mainly playing the triallists and squaddies so I wont read too much into our performances.

The tassie long weekend was definitely more of a promotional thing for tassie footy, not a bad thing, and a good opportunity for some extra squad bonding. For example GG only started training with the boys again today but still went to tassie
A good few days, minutes for the youth boys/squaddies and a look at a couple trialists. Esposito looked okay as did Skotadis. Not sure we’ll pick up both, but we’re full in central midfield and could use a semi natural backup RB more so instead of making Miller vulnerable there.

Skotadis I thought was average - NPL level at best. We don’t need another CM, he is no better than the cover we have there already.
I didn’t mind Esposito. Decent squaddie and good cover as Michael says.

Mariners to take on Central Coast's best in double-header at Pluim!

Pluim Park will play host to the 2019 Central Coast Select fixture on Wednesday 25th September, as the Central Coast Mariners get set to take on some of the best local talent from the Coast region.

The match will be the second in a double header, with the Central Coast Mariners Academy Women taking on a CC Select side as well in the first match.

With the squad heading to Melbourne to take on Hume City next week, the fixture will give Mariners fans a chance to catch their side in action at home after a string of away fixtures, including the recent tour of Tasmania where the side took on a Tasmanian State Team and South Hobart FC.

Head Coach Alen Stajcic said the match would be a great pre-season occasion, and a chance for the community to get behind the team.

“As a group, we are all really looking forward to this match against the Central Coast Select,” Stajcic said.

“It’s a chance for us to put on a show for the community, but also a chance for us and the fans to see some of the local talent that is around, and an opportunity for those players to showcase themselves against A-League opposition.”

Central Coast Football CEO Darren Sprod said the event is a great opportunity for the region’s best male and female footballers.

‘I’m really excited at the prospect of hosting the Central Coast Mariners Select match at Pluim Park on the 25th of September,” Sprod said.

“Events like these provide football fans throughout the Central Coast region the unique opportunity to see their professional football team mix it with the best talent from our regions local clubs.’

‘As well as the Mariners A-League side taking on a squad comprised of the best talent from our local Battlewin Premier League competition, I’m delighted that we were able to extend this to include our region’s best female footballers too.

“On the back of an extremely competitive Central Coast Unity Bank Women’s League season, I’m sure the girls selected to represent our local clubs will be elated at the opportunity to take on their Central Coast Mariners counterparts.’

Central Coast Mariners members will receive free entry to the matches.

CCMA Women v CC Select Women – 6pm kick-off

CCM v CC Select Men – 7:30pm kick-off

Non-Members: $5 entry (all funds going to the Yellow and Navy Foundation)

I'm perfectly okay with not fielding anything close to our first XI in Tassie. Of course I remember how bad it was last season not fielding our XI before the season - the FFA cup match should hopefully be this. It would be ideal if we had another HAL preseason

= 16 days in between.

I’d say it will, the Coast select game is never the most intense friendly. More of a celebration of coastie footy.

I thought I heard Alen say it was likely to be replaced by another HAL team since we play them early.

Shaun mentioned on the pod a couple of weeks ago that this is unlikely to go ahead. I think they’ve canned it.
