Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

He won’t win any aerial duals that’s a given. But he’ll still steal his share of balls, win a few tackles, and most importantly as a central midfielder, keep possession, even under pressure, then consistently pick a pass... so while he might not be a classic ball winning DM, he’s got many of the most important attributes. Very Intelligent player.

Playing number 10 would have seemed like a more natural fit given his stature, so the fact he still doesn’t at 20, must be for a good reason im thinking. My money is on the fact he’s continually proved himself good enough as a DM so far. And his greatest strength likely lies in composure not creativity.

I like it. Good chance to really build some confidence in the boys and for us fans.
We’ll have Markovski in and going well by then (touch wood) and he looks the goods thankfully. We won’t have GG and maybe not tongyik so could be good chance for Lewis Miller to get some minutes. But rowles still has his suspension doesn’t he?

I have question marks over fowlers British signings, Roy will score goals but the other 4 are all average league 1 players at best, so they’ll work hard but their quality on the ball will be limited imo.

yep. This is his last match to serve afaik. If we get through he should be able to play the next round.

That'll be one of the interesting stories of the season. Will that be a good enough level for his visa players and will the sum of the parts be more important than a few individuals. Apparently last night they were pretty strong at the back.

Not saying that Nizzy doesn't put in the effort but Melling puts in a lot of work for us. Yes his passing lets him down, sometimes more than others, but he was very busy and had some good performances for us last year. His work rate was far higher than most of our starting players. I dont think it's a bad idea to have and use both of them for different situations.

Melling is a good squaddie but not starting 11. Maybe useful in closing out a game with his relentless running and tackling.

League 1 players will have a higher technical ability than most HAL players

I dont think that's what most people are questioning, it's whether they bring as much to the team as other visa signings do. What Fowler is doing could fail or it could further influence future visa player trends.

You saw the results last night. Even look at LeFronde last season. He was a League 1/Championship player.

Snobbery from Foster and the Football elite has stopped clubs from mining where they should. The Asian influx this season could also be good for our League.

I didnt get to watch the game in full and that was 1 game in preseason, we've got a long way to go before judgement can be passed on his imports either way. ALF did stuff up a few chances last night from what I've heard and the first goal was a lucky deflection. Second goal was very nice though.
