ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners Fastest Players

. only being a keen observer of the mariners, any advice on where caceres fits into this?

probably one of the fastest for the first ten minutes of the game, then gradually down to the slowest at about the 60th minute mark when he gets the hook

let's hope clarky can sort out his fitness issues and fergie his concentration issue

if that happens then a socceroo spot is certain

Marinermick your exactly right
I think though caceres give McKinna a lot of options for the wing spots with owens, Kwasnik and himself. Plus the options with hutch as well.
Heff is the quickest and probably the fittest in the club followed by mile for fitness

Interesting Mick.  He is quick over a short distance.

I'd certainly concentrate if I had Fergie in my ear!

I'm with the majority, Heff and Kwassie.

Unfortunately speed is one area in which we suffer greatly, I fear.  We're certainly one of the slower teams in the league - remember semi 1, how many times did the Jets destroy us for pace at both ends of the park?  That's happened with a few teams this season.

Heff, Clark and Kwas

quick players are good, and at a faster pace all that means is a greater chance of making mistakes quicker.  look at CC Championship.... lots of running, but the quality of football is a bit poor.

possession, player placement and to know where to be at the right time is far more important.  we have 2 fairly lazy strikers who are fairly effective, because they can read the game fairly well.

Good points - reading the play can certainly go a long way towards compensating for a lack of speed/agility.

So does having a couple of sweepers who'll just hack anybody who tries to run past them :D

we don't really have anyone who can play as a traditional sweeper..... I don't think McKinna likes that system....

Over 100m I would say, Heff, then Kwassy and Clarky. I don't know about Tommy but would back him against the lot over 10 - 20m.

also all this talk of clarkey being quick reminds me of his brilliant performance against newy in the home semi
one of the best players on the park.
one of his best games in yellow? yes?

It would be up there.

Bridge couldn't do a thing all night with Clarky marking him. Was the best both him and Viddy have played in some time IMO.

topic revive

i'm thinking
Simon + Caceres, D'apuzzo atm

then maybe Porter, Bojic

then Jedinak

then every1 else is slow

When you think about we got some genuine speedy players out atm (Heff x 1 million, owens, elrich)
Owens is a fast player when not injured, elrich was and was regaining his pace i believe)

can't argue with that list thought clark has to be in there

he mowed down travis on the weekend and pulled off a brilliant tackle

Porter at training with beep test.

Bojic personal observations

personal observations for me would have heff first and clarky second, d'apuzzo third followed by porter, bojic, simon and caceras

mile is not as quick as people think but reads the play well so makes up for it - ditto wilko and boogs

anyway we seem to be quicker than last season
