If this is true the CCF must review its current agreement. What a farce....

Why, they're from Western NSW FFS. Its not like they play anywhere near hear or Sydney for that matter. Its like the Mariners going to Wagga each pre season. The larger the area we can draw kids from the better.

Besides the article states the partnership has existed for some time and that the only benefit they will get from it is the ability to trial with the associated youth teams and visits from the Mariners. Where's the farce?

Well the deal was sold to the CCF that the NYl would replace the senior team eventually with localy produced C Coast kids. The "Pathway" was mapped out clearly and it did not include other entities bearing The Mariners name.

Yep. That is the word on the street. The 100k the CCF "saved" by not having one is gone... SYDNEY UNI still have a team Dibo don't they?

Last I saw, and it costs an absolute bomb, even with what must be the lowest player expenses budget in the division.

They play out of Bathhurst which is not that far relitivley to be able to act and be utilised as a good Nursery although it may be an even better value proposition for a side playing out of say somewhere like Western Sydney for example but with the stability of the league and guidance of the FFA something lile that would surely not be on the cards..................................

I'd be extremely surprised if down the track, the three or four (there'll at least be West Sydney, and thereafter South Coast somewhere down the line) NSW based HAL franchises didn't all develop affiliations to multiple clubs as part of their AFC licencing requirements.

For the Mariners, it makes perfect sense if Western NSW, Northern Tigers, Spirit and perhaps even Parramatta and Blacktown City came under the umbrella, given proximity and links.

Would be nice to have our regional round game at Penrith Stadium. I would be keen to go out there for a look-see.

... the linked article said:
The Mariners have become one of the most successful and well-supported clubs in the A-League and also field teams in the National Youth League and the women’s W-League.

. it would seem the russians have an interest in a girls team

. oh ... and apparently we are well supported

When compared to GCU, Perth , Glory, Heart and Adelaide we have higher crowds this year. So 5th out of 10 in the smallest market is probably a fair call

Scum NYL team playing in N NSW league this winter apparently. Its an obvious move for HAL Clubs to have a feeder/youth side in the senior winter comps.

Im sure the youngsters will enjoy getting the shit kicked out of them by battle hardened state league CB's on a mud heap of a pitch.

It's the reason why people can take out of their heads the idea we're about to be relocated. You don't relocate a franchise doing as well as ours in a community our size - you burn too many people and run the risk of a 'bring back Souths' style campaign that hobbles both the FFA and the relocated entity.

Even GCU fans are trying to pull something together and it's at least giving FFA pause for thought.

This is guaranteed to be the model. Han Berger wants them playing at least 40 weeks a year, that means playing NYL and PL as a team. The issue with CCF/CCM more than anything I think was they went a year early - lock them in for NSWPL next year along with SFC.

I have been pushing this, for some time now. The Mariners will only do it if instructed to by the FFA. The NYL is a burden on them and an extension of the season will only increase this burden. There was a great opportunity missed by th CCF/CCM to establish this. FFA were behind it, FNSW were behind it. The Mariners stated the CCF did not want a team and the CCF hid behind the perception that, "The Mariners are running rep-footbal now'!!However the CCF sent the applications for teams in last year, without a senior mens team. The CCF says you don't need a team because you have an NYL team, the CCF had and still has no idea how to run a respected rep football program on the coast when it's mandate is "Competitions, Competitions,Competitions". They can't even get that right!!
