Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Lawrie Mckinna and Alex Tobin had lengthy discussions with Sydeny Swans Coach Paul Roos and Midfielder Jarred Crouch on the playing field after the session. Look out in the Loacl Papers in the next week for more on this topic and check out NBN news tonight for the interviews

popped in for a look see - my god the swans have so many players and equally so many support staff

must cost a fortune in wages to run an afl team

bluetongue pitch still looks average

The swans brought there full squad with them which is about 46 players.

They also have about 20 support staff

Yer the pitch is patchy in a couple of places, also it seems to be sandy as the players were running in certain places sand was flicking up every where

yep, i suggested that they move the beach football tournament to the ground and got a wry smile

from all accounts the big pump that pumps water from around the ground has not been working for a while

the ground staff are struggling to get enough water on the ground

it is the job of council to fix it but they haven't

the recent rain will help i guess but god help us if we get a prolonged dry spell

Council already overpays for the ground. Council could run it for 1/3 of the price but are in an agreement whereas they pay whoever the stadium decides. 1/3 of all council funding for parks is spent at the stadium.

I am sure the cash is an issue.

well there is no point paying all that money for ground staff and maintenance when they cannot water it properly

Who'se getting the quotes for the maintenance of the pump? I work for a major pump manufacturer and could arrange a quote with a very cheap price, particularly if its one of ours. Need to hurry though, I'm finishing up with them on 2 January.

Pitched looked pretty dire this morning!
Hopefully it'll look better before tomorrow.

honestly cannot see it looking better unless they use lots of green spraypaint

What I don't understand is why when there are so many problems with the pitch they still train on it and let every man and his dog walk on it.

When I visited Tannadice in Dundee recently the groundsman told me the team very rairly train on the pitch, the reserves play elsewhere and while visitors are welcome and allowed to walk around the ground and see inside the boardroom etc the one big no no is walking on the pitch.

I'm sure it'll be the same situation at most European clubs. I'm f**ked if I know why it should be any different here.

Public / community stadium.

If they can host league, union and motocross, what difference will a few pedestrians make?

Different story if it is a club's own ground with a sense of history & prestige.

League and union I can understand us having to put up with but motocross is just f**kin ridiculous as is training on it.

I mean on one hand we have councils who close the local pitches if they spy a friggin cloud in the sky then on the one pitch that should be looked after properly we have bloody motorbikes etc allowed on it.

We can only hope that was a big factor in why CCM wanted to take over management rights... and hopefully things will change in future.

Has this actually happened, or still in the wings?
