Mariners 2013-2014 season prediction (A-League inc.)

1 - Victory
2 - Mariners
3 - Brisbane
4 - Perth
5 - WSW
6 - Heart
7 - Adelaide
8 - Sydney
9 - Wellington
10 - Jets

I think the Adelaide revolution will kick off next season.
WSW will not win like a lot of the pundits think.
Wellington will be in the top 6 until about round 20
Sydney are still injury prone, lack defenders and have no idea what to do with both Carle and ADP.
Heart are going to scrape annoying 1-0 wins all season and somehow make finals even though JA is clueless as a coach.

I think thats enough predictions and explanations.

Ok here we go....

1 - Victory - Should click this year and be very tough to beat.
2 - WSW - Real surprise last season but they do have the ability to do it again.
3 - Mariners - Think we'll start slowly as we gel new players and maybe a new system, but we'll be there at the end.
4 - Brisbane - Should get better, although I'm not convinced that Mulvey is as good as the talk around him is.
5 - Adelaide - Mid table again. Tough to beat on their day but easy to beat at other times.
6 - Perth - See above.
7 - Heart - Aloisi is gone when his strong squad just doesn't perform as it should.
8 - Wellington - Transition year with big improvement at the end of the season.
9 - Sydney - Not convinced that building a structure around one player is a sound philosophy.
10 - Jets - No reason - just where I'd like to see them finish :)

I'm a big wrap on Mulvey. I'm tipping him for coach of the year.

We'd be alright - Mossy steps up, Zwaanswijk and Browny step up...

If we start getting a coaching conveyor belt to match the player conveyor belt, we will truly be the complete package.

1) Mariners (unless we lose GA)
2) Adelaide
3) Heart
4) SFC/WSW
5) --
6) Victory
7) Brisbane
8) WP
9) Perth
10) Jets

I think there will be some surprises this year.
Adelaide look the goods to me. As do we.
Heart and Harry to be one of the big stories.
SFC have finally realised you need defenders also.
WSW is solid and well organised but still lacking the quality in the final third - where other squads have clearly strengthened.
Ange to be looking more and more like a one trick pony.
Brisbane, by and large stop Berisha and you stop them. And I think most teams will.
WP, though looking improved, it's just to hard travelling.
Perth, this is the team I most expect to defy my low ranking.
Jets, GVE is not up to par and neither are they.

I think you are ranking Sydney way too high. I'd put them 8th at best. Hell, I reckon even Perth is better than them.

Yep...im tipping Perth will trip you up.......but maybe the coach might spend too much time filming the "walking dead" to help you out.

Mmm, hope you're right, but I disagree. Farina's teams have always had graft and they are usually sound too.
He's sorted the defence, Carle will also do a decent job at DM, and in Garcia, Del Piero, Gameiro and Mallia it's the best attack they've had in a good while. We'll see. But I think they'll be a much improved team this year.

I don't get the gag?
Though I think you're right about tripping up. But most teams could surprise. In all honesty, I think it's a much improved league this year with the notable exception being the jets.

pasty appearance and dead black eyes,
avert your eyes children, for it is spawn of the devil himself...

for what it is worth, I thought Perth were hopeless against Adelaide.

I thought they started off alright, kind of letting Adelaide do their thing, but their defence couldn't hold up their end of the bargain and couldn't do shite once they went behind. Their season could go either way IMO

Mariners - Heart not head
Brisbane - very strong first XI
Victory - very strong but will miss Celeski especially when Milligan is unavailabe
Wanderers - still strong but a known quantity
Adelaide - great keeper and some creative players
Heart - recruited well
Sydney - will struggle with injuries as always
Perth
Wellington - will probably surprise me
Newcastle
that's my list right there

if mariners don't win it this season is reckon it'll be due to early season slips while the team gels. there'll be a few 5 nil wipeouts when they do.
Socceroos coaching gig will be the spanner for at least one team

Ange is pretty much locked in (offer made, MVFC haggling over compensation - fair enough too) so they'd want to hope that Muscat is better than Durakovic was.

Should help Heart's support too - really builds the good vs. evil, light side vs dark side dynamic down there.

Hmmm - no one picked Roar to finish first (myself included).

Was very tough to select the top six yet again...
