Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

Staj had the same job. Shit squad compared to Arnie and no money or resources.
He made us fit and organized. 2 things we clearly aren't this season
Sadly, Jacko got his recruiting wrong. He may not get the chance to fix it as there is already some tension over future funding by all accounts.
He got very lucky with the squad he inherited and his replacements have been poor.
Feijao? Like seriously? Alfie needs better players around him.
Edmo? The odd spark but not up to this level. I think like most Poms he underestimated this league and is paying for it.
Agree with all of this.
We have had a lot of injuries this season and a very young squad, to be fair it's not been an easy task for a manager.

Strikers that cant finish doesn't help.
We have always had a young squad. Nothing new. Won 2 GF with a young squad.

Can’t blame so many injuries.. need to look at why we have them.

You'll never get him.

Mainly because the AL doesn't play enough games and he loves the football mad culture in Japan.

But he'd also have to take a massive pay cut. He's already turned us down twice.
If we're still around in 20 years and he wants to come back we may be afford him at a cut rate.

Apparently the remote guy is not the stretch & conditioning guy per se. He’s a consultant.

I still have questions.

. yeah, hired a young 'un ... to give him a chance. interstate guy earns his salary from another code but after an initial paid consultancy offers up some occasional advice

. it's a very Mariners (ahem, Charlesworth) thing to do

. but, as an outsider, it's a bit like employing DPC as our 'keeper ... and then getting Danny to 'advise him' from another city - and when we stop paying him, the advice is ... well, kinda, what you'd expect

Yup I think you are on the money there.

No pun intended.

Cade Mapu was already our strength and conditioning coach, and had worked for a number of years under Brice. We didn’t hire him to give him a chance, he was a proven, known quantity. He’s still performing his role, as Lead S&C Coach.
Brice was punted by Richard and Jacko as they wanted to move in a “different direction”; bringing in Dean as “Head of Performance” (to some degree of fanfare), with the remit of redeveloping the strength, conditioning, and performance programs.
He’s now employed full time at Melbourne Storm.

All of this was done before Richard handed the license back.

Good summary, Pete.

I do wonder, In all, dead 100% seriousness… what consultancy advice could he possibly be giving that is translating positively on the pitch?

I wonder if the goal is to bulk them up more and that's why they decided to have a punt on an NRL fitness coach as a consultant.

. happy to be corrected ... I was only relaying what I had heard from Jacko about Cade. unfortunately, you may have just thrown Cade under the 'we're not fit enough' bus

. incidentally Jacko also said Brice resigned and he was not too impressed when it was done remotely 😂
