Minutes playing with men will have strengthened him and improved his endurance compared to his peers for sure. Playing Sunday league against older kids gave me a major edge for school games.

Depends. Subject to certain conditions, a player can move to the EU between 16 and 18 if they have an EU passport (Anthony Pavlesic, for example).
I've got no doubt he'll be off to Europe - sooner rather than later - but my question was more about whether we'd get to keep him for another year because we desperately need some continuity - especially in midfield.
Same as Nesta his 18th birthday is after the midseason transfer window. So yeah 1 full season left but as @FFC Mariner says a pre-contract in the last few months before 18 is likely if continues to improve next year
