ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

. does the broadcast come with a 'worm' indicating the Brosque impartiality index?

. i have listened to a bit of the Hill/Brosque podcast this year and one consistent theme has been their stance on VAR. Simon wants it gone completely

. they constantly bleat on how re-refereeing the game and judging by super-low mo is ruining the game, taking away the context, etc, etc. Alex wants a player 'in the box' to help with 'in the moment practicality' calls

... but in this podcast Brosque is adamant about the handball call against Max: 'now you can see that in the super slo-mo, and they have done a brilliant job with this, you can see there is an ever slight movement of his hand away from the body - definitely a penalty'

In their pundit work ex players often show ignorance of the laws anyway. Don't get me wrong you can express disagreement with the rule but sometimes its stated more like fact.
100% - some of the garbage both Brosque and McBreen have served up in comms lately has been ridiculous.

Yeah I found that interesting as well, the fact he was trying to rely on super slow mo says it all.

Translation:

When slow mo results in a decision that adversely impacts Sydney (eg upgrade to a red) then it should never be used.

When slow motion could have given a penalty to Sydney then it should always be used.

. begrudgingly he agreed that the rules 'got in the way' disallowing the offside call but only after Simon insisted that Fabio could influence the play without moving towards the ball

And he didn’t want to talk about Brattan’s potential hand ball at all even after Hill mentioned it. He was surprisingly calm because by all accounts he was very animated at the game.

Liked how Duarte can’t get him tickets to the GF as well. I agreed with Hill that perhaps it’s a good thing the GF is hard to get to as creates some good demand and may encourage a few extra members.

we can have all the slow motion replays, VAR checks, ref making announcements over the stadium speakers after spending 5 minutes looking at an ipad on the sidelines, but imo it comes down to 2 things..

1. The technology sucks - you're never going to be able to tell anything from a blurry replay on a shitty angle
2. The rules are too vague - how do you really prove "intent" or what a "normal position" is

1. The technology sucks - you're never going to be able to tell anything from a blurry replay on a shitty angle - you can tell whatever you want as long as it supports your team
2. The rules are too vague - how do you really prove "intent" or what a "normal position" is. This again is dependent on the team in question
Fixed!!

3. The people making the mistakes on the field run the VAR.

Human errors can’t be eradicated and if AI was in control the rules would blow it up

f**k off all technology except for whether the ball crossed the line.

Go back to ref's call for intent on handball.

It would dramatically improve (and speed up) the game.
They should just review the games and give feedback on each and every decision and give the referee a rating that goes to IFAB in an official database. Bad decisions without a valid explanation that are consistent should relegate that referee to the 2nd division.
Referees with consistently good ratings get priority to be available for selection at international club/country cups/leagues which comes with a financial incentive.

Just had to post this somewhere

Personally, never been big on these all star games…. But Eddie Howe has taken the absolute piss by putting the U21’s out tonight 😂
Not a good look for the league imo, quite funny. Glad none of our boys are involved.
I’ve just turned it on (why is it on at 5pm). If Garang wasn’t playing i wouldn’t watch
