Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

With more than 2 weeks off coming up - from what I can see we play Odisha on the 14th, then Syd on the 30th - how do we manage the loss of momentum?

Have to assume the coaching staff will be aware of it

Could be very handy for Faz after his knee injury and I think Ronnie took a knock as well.

I agree though and would hate to see our momentum be disrupted.

Nah, Arnie has blinkers on and doesn't see anything outside of his normal's. Also don't think Arnie can get his head around Nizz being a 10.
There's just been so much commentary on Nizz for the Socceroos in the last month across all media that he has to be in the conversation. Not to mention the fact that he's almost Maradona-like at the moment, the way he dominates every match he plays in.

How can they possibly leave him out?

100%. Even when he's been asked in press conferences, he's dodged the question. He clearly doesn't fancy him... which is stupid seeing as he is the best player in the A-League right now.

No different to Cummings. Even when he was included there was zero intention to integrate him playing his natural game which got him in the picture to begin with. Instead it was 'go out there and be mitch duke'

Yep, Arnie has a formula and game plan and you have to say has also had success with it.

We just find it frustrating as good players like the Dingo and now Nizz have next to no chance of fitting in with it when they are definitely good enough. It's not just those two players there are many others. I still shake my head that King is a Socceroo.

We define success differently.

Our biggest failing at the Asian Cup was that we couldn't retain possession. Who better than Nizz to hold the ball (let alone do something creative with it)?

It had us performing at the world cup and seems to mostly work against teams who take the game to us. I find it frustrating because it doesn't help us break down compact teams or those who can nullify our specific plan. We need to be able to shift gears to embrace that creativity but are too focused on plan A.

100% agree, don't get me wrong I find Arnie Ball very frustrating and one dimensional and it does not work well in Asia.

Nothing will change while Arnold is there - this round of games is where you unleash the young guns. Niz, Silvera and the rest.
We will no doubt have to suffer through the ageing rubbish he always picks as they stumble to a home 1-0 against might Lebanon.

Might be coming at the right time. It’s been very hectic and the bodies need a freshen up. Like Faz slip etc.

While I think the boys have adapted and are enjoying the constant playing and we probably loose a little momentum i think it will be the perfect freshen up before the AFC Cup gets serious and our charge to the premiership and toilet seat double.

If we didn’t have a break id be worried. Especially after a trip to India a few days off will really help the boys i feel

I think that would be more of a concern if the other teams were playing rather than the whole comp being in recess for international weekend.

Victory play Thursday against WU and then don't play until the day after we play Sydney so it's no different.

Agree effects everyone but we are just humming along as a symphony right now and SFC will be a big test first up after the break. Might take a week or two to get them back to where they are now but would prefer that than no breaks because April and May are going to be busy again

If we win these 2 games we have qualified for the next phase.

I don't think wholesale changes are right for this bracket. Some changes yes based around fitness and balancing who he will want to include as Olympics players, but not a complete overhaul.

Win these games as a priority and then in June he can unleash the kids and give fringe players a good hit out in the dead rubbers.

I guess you always go in house for interim positions.
