He took over Doncaster when the previous manager was sacked in the October. I read a report when I first heard is name a few weeks back and I cba digging it out again but from memory it said something along the lines that he had them on the fringes of the play-off places for quite a while but then they had a horror run with injuries which exposed the lack of depth in what was a low budget squad.
So it sounds like he improved somebody else's team to start with, then went backwards again but possible extenuating circumstances.
Prior to that he had a long track record as an academy and development coach, including being assistant to Carlos Coberan at Leeds when they were the Development League champions. He also got himself a Sports Science degree whilst he was playing. So plenty in his resume to be positive about as well (though not sure that is in vogue these days).
