ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

I sometimes like to think Lawrie is doing CCM a favour by going to the Jets. If anything, it's going to heat up the rivalry again, and make the derby even more relevant. Could make CCM untouchable as far as moving goes - if it destroys a vibrant and vital derby, not worth it?

I don't think that's the reason he went though. He went because he needs a job.

That's fair enough, you can't argue with that, and it's not like we've made him so fabulously wealthy that he doesn't need to work anymore but it's not like there's some altruistic motive there.

No altruistic motive? As in, he's not there to tear them down from the inside?

This is indeed disappointing.

I bet that was insightful :(........"I'm not sure sure why he passed forward?......when the back pass to the keeper was fully on and he wasn't even into their 6 yard box......you don't want to lose possession from there"

He did seem to advocate for a fairly defensive style but he wasn't too bad of a commentator, a million times better than the wet paper towel next to him.

Phil Moss commentating the Shamrock Rovers vs Brisbane Strikers game.
He's a journo by trade - worked for the Manly Daily for ages. On Fox he's a pretty reasonable post-match analyst - he's been on Sunday Shootout quite a bit and he goes alright.

I'm an idiot savant without the pesky savant bit
Bris Mariner txted me yesterday and said Moss, with the payout, has been awarded for mediocrity, how 21st century....have to agree somewhat

Nonsense. If he was given a contract, he's entitled to see the terms of that contract fulfilled.

He's not been rewarded for anything. He's been paid what was due. If he had breached his contract he'd have no grounds to sue and the club would've held firm, but if you're settling pre-hearing, it's for one of two reasons - to save legal and court costs on a case you're sure to lose or to prevent embarassment as dirty laundry gets a public airing.

The former is clearly our own fault and the latter too - if the ship is run well and good processed followed, you've nothing to fear.

Of course he's not doing it for us, but I think in the long run it helps out football in this region, and I'd wager he knows that.

To your original post, if "Lawrie is doing CCM a favour by going to the Jets" it's entirely by happy accident rather than design.

Speaking of Lawrie, a blast from the past:

Tried to buy some of our new sponsors sports' drink (iPro Sports) but apparently they don't actually sell it through anyone in Gosford, Sydney, Melbourne or Australia for that matter! I don't understand why they bought our advertising space when Australians can only order from their website and I highly doubt most people could be bothered when they could just go buy some Powerade/Gatorade etc down the street.

Winger Mitch Austin admits it was a tough decision to leave Central Coast but says he wanted to test himself and Melbourne Victory was the best place to do that.
Austin was released from the final year of his contract with the Mariners and joined Victory in a player swap deal with Connor Pain in June. The forward scored five goals in 23 A-League appearances last season.

Austin had a great debut campaign at Gosford, but felt he could further his development as a player more in the Victorian capital under Kevin Muscat.

"I just felt at my age that I wanted to try and test myself personally and coming to a club like Victory there is no better place to do that," he told FourFourTwo.

"It was a tough call to make, but when I knew I had the opportunity to go I wasn't going to turn it down. I had a great time at Central Coast Mariners and they are a great club, I hope they have a good season and wish them all the best.

"I've only been here [in Melbourne] a month, but I feel I'm improving each day. I'm trying to take in as much as I can at training from Kevin and the coaching staff and then put it into game day."

Austin said it has been a smooth transition with Victory.

"It's been great so far, there is a great bunch of boys at Victory and everyone gets on great and they have made me feel very welcome from day one," he said.

"Training has been tough, which is good, as it's only going to benefit us when the season starts."

Austin got his Victory career off to a positive start with a 3-1 away win over Newcastle in the FFA Cup's round of 32.

"It was great win in really tough conditions," the former Rotheram United wide player said.

"These are the kind of games where it doesn't have to be pretty football but as long as you grind out the result, which we did then that's all that matters. Credit to Newcastle as well who made it very difficult for us, but a win is a win and I'm very happy we are through to the next round."

There's more to the article, the rest is just about Victory. Don't know how I feel about the comment in bold though. Just sounds like a bit of a 'flap you' to CCM....a bit like 'I was just a bit too good for CCM so I wanted to play for a real club'

Funny you say that because they didn't buy the advertising space. They got the space by simply giving us some of the product so we actually made no money. It was just a one off. They are doing the same thing with some other big clubs around the world.

He was a fraud. He got sacked for being worse than useless.
He also was the worst recruiter we have ever seen and the smell of alleged corrupt deals remain.
He is lucky that Stadler was so stupid to give him a 3 year deal after an slightly above average first few months.
He is a stain on the Mariners history for mine.....good luck on him that he was able to leech that money from us.....we should have charged him with a few things......impersonating a Football manager for a start!!!!
