ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariner stuff not worthy of a whole thread

It shits me to tears that MacArthur get the transfer fee for Miller.Do we miss out altogether?

The system is stupid when a player who has not played 1 minute for a club but signs a contract can then be sold on and the club who gave him his chance gets f**k all( unless he makes the WC squad)
Dems the rules. I hazard a guess at an agent maximising their profit somehow.
Signing on fee from the bulls and a % of the transfer
I think we get some bullshit development fee and nothing else

We should get a training fee. Maybe get someone from the club on the next pod to explain how it all works, but my understanding is that we "trained" Lewis for 4 years so we get 4 x USD 40,000 which amounts to about $230k AUD at current exchange rates.

There are rules around once you become a first team regular then the "training" is deemed to have stopped and he has been in the first team for quite some time on-and-off - I don't know how they determine you are now an established first grade player. Given he was still playing NPL last season and only truly cemented a spot this year, I would have thought he would be deemed to be still in training but if the rules are based simply around number of appearances then we may not get the full amount.

At the end of the day we didn’t value him enough to go longer and it’s bad business by us. He improved mightily this season and by the time we realised he was gone. No one’s fault but CCM.

I do wonder of the ownership change had an effect on any offers but if you’re coming out of contract and you have an offer on paper from someone else you take it

Do you know that or assume? Monty implied he was a bit tricky to manage so it’s entirely possible someone got in his ear when he had copped a bit of stick and he had his head turned that way? Or maybe they promised the CB role he was after? It’s not always a case of doing something wrong. Coming into this season I don’t think we could predict how rapidly he would improve.
