I'm giving it to Matty Simon. While not on for long, the team's best spell came when he powered onto the pitch.

Rose for mine....almost perfect game for an overlapping fullback.
Just pipped Monty.

Sains.

His best game of the season so far. Stepped up to the leadership role. I wonder if the fact that we have a new Socceroos coach had anything to do with it?

I really like what Fitz was doing this week plus he bagged the goal. Tough, though, because our midfield was solid and was well impressed by Monty, Flores and Wee-Mac.

Fitzys work keeping zullo quiet was brilliant. It was only after he went off that zullo got into the game. Fitzy should have buried Rosie's beautiful ball, other than that a perfect game (or 70 minutes) Fitzy gets my vote just ahead of monty.

How good was his little cameo up the guts - He was like shit there's a hole there - Hang on Arnie will kill me must pass it - no Arnie will kill me if I don't go through it - ok i'm going - Shit I'm still going - Shit that looks like the goals - Are shit I'm a defender.

Was a great little run would like to see a couple more - Also a goal is coming his way, was so close against the heart & had another 1/2 chance against Adelaide.

I was surprised with the fox teams MoM points with duke getting the 3 points. To date no CCM fans have given him their MoM does anyone else find this interesting? And can anyone suggest why the supporters see it so differently to the experts?

I think he is struggling to learn how to play 90m after his super sub all out hussle from last year & has wasted one or two decent half chances because he hasn't had the energy he would normally have. I think he might be a 60-70m guy especially with McBreen back. While he linked well with Marcos & worked his butt off as usual not sure he was MOM but there was no real stand out just a solid team effort without being special.

Maybe we take his work rate for granted but I wouldn't have had him in the top 4 - Not saying he played bad just not the best.

. some interesting discussion here and also some interesting reasoning ... a couple of examples:
  • people rating matty's performance ... when he was playing as a striker yet butchered some very clear opportunities to score
  • people applauding dukie's efforts ... but relating his change in role to a diminishing work rate
  • people criticising fitzy for not converting (after he had scored one) ... but not mentioning others missing opportunities
. just shows how differently we can all see the game ... which is part of the charm. the best bit is (and i agree with big al) ... it is very difficult to pick a stand out because everybody played their part

I actually thought Duke was the MoM.....I think his work rate alone is phenomenal and he really pressured the Adelaide defence. Sure he might have missed chances, but his pressure on the Adelaide backs are what created those chances for me.

I agree with Bikinigirl though at how differently we all see the game. My eldest son thought Flores was fantastic, but I thought it was his least impressive performance for us so far. Perhaps it's location in the ground (I'm an Eastern stand guy so looking into the sun all game....perhaps my squinting means I really don't watch the game after all, but just soak up the atmosphere.
