ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Trump awarded Fauci a commendation for his work.

The conspiracy morons [using the word 'theory' when associated with these cretins diminishes its scientific value] seem to take info out of context and twist it to fit whatever they want to portray.

I'll arc up - worst source in the world.

Number of citations does not equal validity of content.

Hard critical thinking fail there.
Not going to go down the road of seeing who can throw the most shade by insinuation but citing credible physical evidence and/or documents certainly does support any argument being posited by someone .

Might be best to actually read the book before dismissing it, given that it was written by someone who has a history of ethical behaviour and actually holding duplicitous individuals and organisations to account on behalf of everyday citizens.

Mock him at your own disservice.

Written by somebody still perpetuating the "vaccines =autism" bullshit.

Yeah, he's a bastion of ethics and reason.

I didn't see Kennedy [or any of his cheer squad here] stand up at the time and voice a reasoned rebuttal to Fauci's work.

When I see that Kennedy has qualified as a professor of medicine/epidemiologist I might listen to him.

Everyone should also read The Real Dr Fauci, to understand his wheeling and dealings over the years.

And before anyone arcs up about it being written by RFK Jr, I would point out that it is just about the most cited book in publication and that Fauci has never sued for libel. That should speak to the veracity of its content.

Why would you think that should speak to anything? Fauci condemned it. Suing him is probably just giving him more publicity.

Most cited book in publication - got a source for that claim?

Number of citations doesn't indicate it's accuracy or usefulness. Especially if many of those citations are calling out bullshit...

Doesn’t mean his point of view doesn’t deserve some level of investigation, even if that investigation ultimately only proves him to be entirely wrong.

Autism is on the rise globally and is an absolute tragedy for everyone affected by it, so someone should be seriously looking into the cause(s) and seeking to address cures/therapies.

.

Correct. There are citations and citations. The ones that matter here are those in science and medical journals like Nature and Lancet
Yeah right.

They might have been bastions of truth and integrity at one time but they have sadly fallen a very long way from that lofty position in modern times.

Every peer reviewed academic paper refutes the anti vaxx position.
Still, what do they know? University of life mate
Why does everyone seem to equate scepticism of something with the automatic assumption it is anti vaccine these days?

Anyone remember the Vioxx and opioid scandals, which both had a number of peer-reviewed papers published in many journals?

The capture of medical academia is sadly widespread (some might even say institutionalised) and this will possibly do irreparable harm to the integrity of medical research far into the future, which is something every one of us should be concerned about.

1. Autism is on the rise because we are better understanding the condition and are getting better at defining, identifying and diagnosing it.
2. There are thousands of studies “looking into it”.
3. Subsequently there are serious investigations to find cures and therapies.

I don’t get your point here.

I wonder if the quantity of vaccines administered and the frequency of the vaccines being administered could be a contributing factor. I'm no scientist though.

I totally dispute this point. Peer reviewed, published studies (in reputable journals) are the highest level of medical evidence we have.

And while this level evidence is still not perfect, it is thoroughly robust, and still wipes the floor with someone’s anicdote, someone’s opinion, someone’s feelings about a matter, a YouTube video or a meme.

I work in immunology and I am still in awe of the knowledge of the people I work with. It is really just a grain a sand on the beach my comprehension of the science of medicine but I am confident I still know more than most.

Therefore, when someone who has barely passed high school science (not directed at your personally) tries to tell me about the falsity of vaccines and their whole Covid theories, I just choose to roll my eyes and ignore them.

I am more concerned with the learned values and opinions of the brilliant people I work with, who are immersed daily in these matters.

The cynic in me suggests finding the date that autism support was included in the NDIS.

And when the DSM updated from version 4 to 5 in 2013 they changed the way autism was diagnosed - coincidentally (🤔) the rate of diagnosis increased. (I'm no psychologist but I am married to one).

Rates of diagnosis of autism were growing well before January 2020 and February 2021 when the vaccine was implemented so while a spurious correlation may exist, causation can't be implied and it's more likely an additional variable.

And what the WHO tell you to believe.
So you dont want to accept the opinions of scientists who are a lot smarter that you or I. Or their work produced using the scientific method and peer reviews, but somehow you think you know better? That's fine by me.
When you have a massive heart attack make sure that you insist on being treated by a chiropractor or reflexologist. I'll be the one using the cardiologist.
